Your EDM Premiere: Ripple’s Ambitious Debut LP Will Create a Ripple ‘Effect’ in D&B [Ripple Music Ltd]

The duo known as Ripple who punters will have seen on all three Let It Roll rosters are about to be more than local favorites in Czechia with their upcoming self-released debut album, aptly named Effect (Ripple – Effect, get it?). The Czech/Slovak duo comprised of individual artists PmdR and Spill have come a long way since their first releases, their most prominent singles to date appearing on Mainframe Recordings and Neonlight’s DIASCOPE imprint. They’ve always been diverse in their releases, however, leaning towards darkstep throwback sounds in general but not above an uplifting liquid tune. This style even mroe dialed in is what typifies Effect.

Ripple have been teasing singles for Effect as far back as January, with “RAVE,” “Talking” and “Goin’ Hard” featuring Neonlight charting as three of their ten most popular tracks on Beatport. It’s clear they’re on the right path as they’ve pitched up the usual dark tones in “Goin’ Hard,” injected some neuro and amens into “RAVE” and spliced cinematic sound design and minimal 174 techno into “Talking.” If that’s not enough diversity on one album, wait until you hear our premiere, “Forever.”

Ripple have always had a softer side, but teaming up on “Forever” with another diverse liquid-lover Sovryn seems to have really galvanized it for them. On the dancefloor side of liquid, “Forever” is fun and ravey but has a good backbone of cinematic sound design that would make it good for a festival or as a smaller club track. Guess that’s what you get from artists who regularly play Let It Roll.

As the last single to release before Effect drops on August 20, “Forever” is here to make sure fans know there will be more than a few surprises on the album. Synth-heavy dancefloor, ambient liquid vibes, 174 techno, dark and heavy sub bass and more await listeners with this ambitious album. There’s something for everyone contained therein, and it shows Ripple to be part of a wave of genre-busting artists who just want to make good beats. Hopefully it will have a Ripple effect on the community.

Effect drops in full Friday, August 20 on Ripple’s own Ripple Music Ltd. imprint. Click here to pre-order or pre-save.

Ookay Tries His Hand At Metal & Honestly We’re About It

Ookay has come a long way from his trap days, bringing out a whole new sound following “Thief” and even performing a live tour. His new sound thus far has been fairly poppy, but, not one to be pigeonholed, still explores new styles.

The producer just shared a metal demo on Twitter called “Doomsdays Coming” and, while it’s pretty raw, definitely has some potential. Even Jauz replied, “Man I have so many metal WIPS is it time to start a band yet.”

Check out the demo below and let us know if you think Ookay should release this!

ATB & Ben Samama Collab For Intoxicating New Single “Like That” [Astralwerks]

ATB is a legend in the dance music industry. Hailing from Germany, his big breakthrough moment, “9pm (Till I Come)”, propelled the DJ and producer to the top of the UK singles chart back in 1998, becoming the first dance song to reach #1 in the UK. This debut single also peaked in several Top 10 charts around the globe, including the US Billboard Charts, and opened the door for dance music on mainstream radio.

After a string of massive singles throughout his 20+ year career, ATB is riding high off the success off of his previous single, “Your Love (9 PM)”, a fresh take on the original mentioned above, collaborating with Topic and A7S.

Now, ATB is back with a brand new single “Like That“, collaborating with the talented singer-songwriter Ben Samama for what is destined to be another commercial smash. “Like That” is an emotion-drenched modern dance jam that features idyllic guitar riffs and an infectious bassline that can’t help but make you want to move.

Like That” is a great tune that deserves to be in your playlists. Listen below!

NGHTKRAWLER Brings Miami Tech House to NoFace Records on “Covenant” [Interview}

The Miami music scene is a vibrant as it is competitive. Across every genre, young artists are making moves across gig slots and studio time trying to carve a slice of the pie for themselves. One of these artists is NGHTKRAWLER who recently landed one of his tracks “Covenant” on Max Vangeli’s label NoFace Records.

“Covenant” is a tech house track that uses soulful vocals and a busty bass line to get people moving on the dancefloor. It’s catchy, bouncy, and infectious to the ears. To talk about it, I sat down with NGHTKRAWLER and explored his origins and his future in EDM.

How’s everything going?

It’s going, man. It’s going. It’s been a solid year so far! Especially so since my new release. Shout out to my NoFace fam!

That’s great to hear! So to start off, how did you become NGHTKRAWLER? Specifically, how did you become interested in electronic music?

When I was kid, my eldest brother had me listening to freestyle dance music and disco. So I was listening to the Bee Gees and Vicky Sue Robinson. With EDM, a lot of its groove comes from that style. From there, I discovered the G.O.A.T. Tiesto and that really opened the door for me to really love electronic dance music.

That’s interesting! Especially since I know your earliest releases are groovy but more so in the bass music camp, which are pretty different from your latest release “Covenant”. How would you say that genre switch came about and did you feel comfortable making that switch?

You’re right! I originally was making a moombah-trap like my song “Muevelo” and a hybrid-trap song called “Freefall”. I’ve always had an interest in main-stage progressive house, as well. But with “Covenant”, I really wanted to try something different. Although I’m comfortable working in any genre, I thought, “Let me get a little techy with this one.” It’s still different because it uses elements and influences from my previous work. But the bass is still very tech-house which I like because it’s very groovy and meant to make you dance.

When you were working on “Covenant”, was it a side-venture that became something more or was it a main goal project? What was the process?

This was the process: When I was up in the morning, I try to make something new. So I started with the vocals. I was playing around with the vocal editing. As I was listening to the “Oh, ohs” you hear on the final version before the track was made, I thought to try some progressive house drums. That didn’t work. Then I tried deep house drums, but they also didn’t work. I tried other styles of house drums, until I added tech house drums. Then I thought, “Wait a minute! I think I got something here!” From there, I layered the drums with the bass lines for the groove and once I started doing the proper mixdown, I thought pffft…I think I got this one!

It had to feel really great when all the pieces come together working on a project like that. Speaking of your workflow, do you think the pandemic had an effect on your musical style, production decision or even your creative output?

I had take a hiatus from music with the pandemic. But my manager Marcus pushed me. He said, “Bro, we’re in a pandemic. Everybody’s making music right now. You need to release music. People know you can make music, but you have to release something.”

Then, jokingly, I made a mashup or edit of the Jauz song “Goodies” with the vocals from my song “Muevelo” and it was surprisingly groovy. When that happened, I thought to myself, ” If I can make this during a pandemic, maybe I should make something of my own.” Between that and support from my management, it pushed me more.

On that note, what is cooking in the studio with NGHTKRAWLER? What new projects can you tell us about?

Cooking in the background, we’re going to be pushing tracks to NoFace Records. But I also want to also want to work on other genres and focus on making an album. Like an actual studio album. I’m also pushing my music to some other major labels in the EDM scene that we all are familiar with. I have a lot of unreleased tracks now. I want to skip the freshman EP and boom…go straight to an album because I believe I have the potential to do it.

What do you want your legacy to be with your music in 1 year, 5 years or 10 years?

The point of my music is to make people dance. All I want is to make the people dance. You may be having a rough day or have the highlight of your life. But when you hear my music, you can dance the stress away or dance to your achievements. Live it up, because music is the language of the soul! I want people to remember my music as what helped them get through the day.

Make sure to check out the new NGHTKRAWLER release “Covenant” out on NoFace Records and stay tuned for future releases,

Disclosure Drop First New Original Since Last Year’s “ENERGY” Album

Disclosure dropped their hotly anticipated album ENERGY last year and have been relatively quiet since, only popping in earlier this year for a remix of Doja Cat’s “Streets,” which is sitting at a very pretty 15 million plays on Spotify.

Today, however, they’ve dropped their newest song, a very chill house number titled “In My Arms.” The bare track art for the song belies its sonic nature, as well, as the minimal and peaceful beats resound through its duration.

Check it out below!

Producer/DJ STUCA Accused Of Sexual Assault

Twitter user @equeslut, who goes by Mady on the platform, has come out with accusations of sexual assault against producer/DJ STUCA.

In her accusations, Mady recounts her first time meeting the producer, real name Geoff Boss, as well as the subsequent alleged inappropriate sexual conduct and eventual assault. Mady doesn’t give any timeline as to when these events might have taken place, but she does say that she’s filed a police report, so it’s likely within the statute of limitations.

You can read Mady’s full post below. Your EDM has reached out to both Mady and management for STUCA for comment and will update this article with any new information.

Justin Bieber Releasing New Music With Skrillex & Don Toliver This Friday

Skrillex and Justin Bieber have worked together a number of times, most notably on “Where Are Ü Now” from Skrillex and Diplo’s 2015 album as Jack Ü. The two also worked together on Bieber’s hit song “Sorry,” as well as “2 Much,” “Somebody” and “Loved By You” featuring Burna Boy with co-writing/production credits on each, from his latest album, JUSTICE.

Now, the two are putting out yet another song, the first since “Where Are Ü Now” with both artists’ names on the main release, this Friday, also with Don Toliver.

The track doesn’t have a title yet, at least not one shared publicly. Given the musical styles of both artists over the past year or two, it’s unlikely we’re going to get another repeat of “Where Are Ü Now,” and more likely something with heavier pop overtones.

Check back throughout this week for any previews or news about the new track before it drops on Friday.

Kygo Releases New Track “Love Me Now” ft Zoe Wees

Kygo adds another song to his long discography, collaborating with Zoe Wees on the new “Love Me Now.”

Perpetual fans of the Norwegian chill house artist will find much to like about this new single as he returns to his characteristic piano plucks and delightful melodies. That being said, this side of Kygo has become a little stale for fans who are looking for innovation from the producer.

Tiësto & Karol G Deliver Intoxicating Summer Bop “Don’t Be Shy” [WATCH]

Tiësto and Karol G join forces for a hot new summer track, “Don’t Be Shy.”

The production marks Columbian artist Karol G’s first English song, as well as her first venture into dance music — and she does it so well. In true Tiësto fashion, he continues to expand across genres and styles, constantly evolving his music and craft, as heard with “Don’t Be Shy.”

Tiësto shares of the release:

Karol G is such a talented superstar and the perfect addition to this song – When I first heard her smooth vocals on “Don’t Be Shy” I was instantly hooked. I am thrilled to share this collab with both of our fans around the entire world.

Karol G adds:

Working with Tiesto has been one of the most beautiful surprises that has happened to me this year. I feel like I manifested it. My playlist includes various songs of his and I listen to them often. When I was approached with the idea to work together and on top of that to sing a song in English my excitement was on another level.

This intoxicating crossover is a perfect spin for both the radio and the dance floor.
