Zeds Dead Unleash ‘Catching Z’s’ Remixes from IMANU x QUIET BISON, Pocket, & A-BO [LISTEN]

Zeds Dead’s acclaimed downtempo series Catching Z’s gets reimagined by IMANU x QUIET BISON, Pocket, and A-BO as part of this brand new remix pack.

In addition to highlighting upcoming talent, tastemakers Zeds Dead set their intent by leading with an immersive, acoustic mix of “i think you’re cool” featuring Jenna Pemkowski. The ballad is backed by a piano and string orchestra, inducing feels and chills to the maximum degree.

The EP continues with two more fresh takes on “i think you’re cool.” The first from IMANU x QUIET BISON utilizes eccentric percussive elements and dreamy textures, while Pocket’s remix matches an upbeat, late night house groove with a twinkling soundscape.

Last but not least, A-BO throws down a quirky rendition of Zeds Dead’s “lost birds” featuring Elliot Moss. Fluctuating synth work demands attention throughout, offering a final, refreshing perspective to vibe out to.

Catching Z’s saw the Deadbeats duo expand into sonic realms they were always interested in exploring, also serving as the first official release from their newly launched experimental-minded label: Altered States.

ACRAZE Finally Drops Summer’s Most-Anticipated House Track, “Do It To It”

The house track of the summer just dropped and it’s no surprise why every producer is going absolutely nuts over it. Bringing Cherish back from 2006 to cover their own track, “Do It To It” featuring Sean Paul, ACRAZE puts a fresh and energetic house spin over the classic for a new age dance floor banger.

Producers ranging from Jon Casey and Crankdat to DJ Snake and Nitti Gritti are going nuts over the tune and playing it out wide. Even with a relatively simple beat, it’s insanely catchy and won’t leave your head for a long, long time.

David Guetta & MORTEN Celebrate 10 Years of “Titanium” with New Future Rave Remix [LISTEN]

David Guetta and MORTEN dominate the dance floor with this massive, rave-worthy take on an already anthemic masterpiece, Guetta’s “Titanium” featuring Sia.

After 10 years, the Future Rave remix delivers insanely hype energy to the self-empowering banger. The first gritty synth punch is enough to send chills up spines and when Sia’s voice comes in there’s nothing left to do but surrender to the music. David Guetta and MORTEN transform the already larger than life production into a fierce, everlasting followup that echoes “Titanium” intent.

Guetta shares:

The anniversary of my album ‘Nothing But The Beat’ is a milestone in my career. In part because of my single ‘Titanium.’ It’s probably my favourite all time track I have ever created and the one I love playing live. Listening to seas of people singing so loudly together in unison at my shows around the world feels so surreal. I also love working with Sia so much. She is such an incredibly talented singer and songwriter with a phenomenally unique voice. It made me so happy over ten years ago when she accepted to keep her vocals on the track. I still feel it would not have been the same without her. We have always worked so well together and that’s why I find myself going back to her over and over to collaborate throughout the years. ‘Titanium’ transcends across the globe and touches so many lives. I am so proud of this track and truly believe that this song forever changed my career.

With this, the ultimate hit-maker David Guetta celebrates the anniversary of the decade: 10 years of the Grammy award winning DJ and producer’s bulletproof and legendary album that changed music forever, Nothing But The Beat.

ZHU Remixes Songs By Vince Staples, Cyn, & Mabel For Pokémon 25: The Blue EP

Pokémon is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary and has been doing a lot to show its appreciation for their fans, as well as for the history of the series itself. Earlier this month, Vince Staples, Cyn, and Mabel contributed to a three-track Red EP celebrating the musical history of the series, and now ZHU is here with his remixes of all three songs.

Long-time fans of ZHU are likely to be slightly taken aback by the stark departure from his core sound on these remixes, even dipping into the realm of psychedelic rock on his remix of “Wonderful” from Cyn.

“ZHU’s remixes for Pokémon 25: The Blue EP are a special component of the P25 Music program,” said Colin Palmer, vice president of marketing, The Pokémon Company International. “His alternate versions of The Red EP songs allow music fans to celebrate a part of Pokémon history while enjoying something completely new and different. Pokémon fans will especially enjoy sound effects from classic Pokémon video games in some of his tracks. ZHU’s mastery of the remix and unique sound, paired with the fantastic original songs, continue to build out the breadth of amazing global artists who have come together to help us celebrate 25 years of Pokémon.”

Alongside his music, ZHU has passionately pursued his interest in fashion, playing an essential part in the design of his own fashion-forward merch. Now he’s collaborating on a unique, streetwear-infused merchandise capsule that will combine his artistic, personal and fashion aesthetic (and distinctive ZHU logo) with the iconic themes and characters from the world of Pokémon, including ZHU’s favorite, Gengar. Fans can sign up to receive updates about the design drops here: https://p25musicstore.com/

ZHU adds, “I had a great time designing a collection for my merch collaboration with Pokémon. As a lifelong fan of Pokémon, I wanted to bring back a flash of the 90s into today’s fashion. Of course, I had to incorporate my favorite Pokémon Gengar. I can’t wait for my fans to see this unique line and I’m excited for them to hear my new mixes too.”

Katy Perry, Post Malone and J Balvin are also contributing new recordings to the compilation album. Fans can keep up with the latest news for P25 Music and more celebrations across the franchise on Pokémon’s 25th-anniversary website at Pokemon.com/25.

photo: Robee Aquino

There’s something very special about live music and people coming together to experience it.

As soon as this show was announced a few months ago, Seattle was buzzing with anticipation for Diplo’s very own Higher Ground event to step foot in the city. Thanks to the new partnership between the legendary Disco Donnie Presents & Seattle’s very own Upper Left Presents, the Emerald city got to witness an absolutely stacked lineup of DJ’s in a beautiful outside location on a perfect, sunny day.

photo: Robee Aquino

As soon as we stepped foot on the grounds, the most prevalent emotion was the joy everybody had to be together, to dance together again, and experience what turned out to be an unforgettable show. There were countless people hugging, high-fiving, taking pictures together, and making new friends. The smiles on people’s faces were contagious; you couldn’t help but feel overcome by the love and happiness radiating throughout the venue.

A few delicious food trucks lined the outer rim of the venue, along with a free water bottle refill station, bathrooms, and room to either join the crowd or observe at an elevated point. Care Collective, who provides harm reduction services at events, had a tent set up giving out free water, hand sanitizer, masks, and helping cool people off with water spritzers. Everywhere we looked, people were dressed in amazing outfits, vibing to the music, cheering on the DJ, or hanging with friends.

The lineup was immaculate, consisting of really talented artists like Subset, LP Giobbi, Dirtybird’s VNSSA, Walker & Royce, Dom Dolla (who is having an incredible year), and to top it off, Diplo. Each artist brought their utmost effort, delivering fantastic and diverse sets. Whether it was LP Giobbi playing the keys, Walker & Royce dropping some absolutely wild tracks, or Diplo rocking the crowd with electrifying edits and originals, the crowd roared back with with cheers and enthusiasm. To cap off his encore, Diplo even played a Macklemore track as a nod to the Seattle crowd.

This show marks the very first event for Disco Donnie & Upper Left and can’t help but leave us feeling excited for what they will plan next in Seattle. It’s also clear to see the effort they made in creating a safe and healthy space at the event so that fans and artists alike can continue to come together.

‘Not for Everybody’: J’Moris Releases Two New ‘Special’ and Gritty Tracks About Modern Love

Houston-based hip hop and trap artist J’Moris doesn’t exactly pull punches in his lyrics in general, using his unique perspective and storytelling abilities to get listeners’ attention on all of his releases. That said, thus far he also hasn’t directly addressed the subject of sex, love and different relationship dynamics in the way he has with his latest two tracks, “Not for Everybody” and “Special.” Released as a dual single, they’re meant to compliment each other and, quite likely, are about the same woman or type of woman.

“Special” will surprise fans with an interesting and unique beat, the synths crafted to sound almost like a classical harp playing a scale progression. It’s a cool contract to the dirty trap beat and even dirtier vocals, as J’Moris describes a tryst between presumably himself and what sounds like a very capable woman. This track lays the groundwork for “Not for Everybody” as it seems the man in this story actually has some emotional attachment, whereas the woman is really just looking for sex.

In “Not for Everybody,” the first shock comes in the form of J’Moris’s vocals, which are quite beautifully sung rather than rapped. The next shock comes with the description of the woman in the song, the one who’s very sexually open, doesn’t want love and is, because of that, “not for everybody.” The surprise here is that there’s no objectification or disrespect of said woman. In fact, at one point, J’Moris says he respects her choices and though there is a wistful tone to this song similar to “Special,” the point is very much not about her but about the changing social mores around sex and love.
