Noer the Boy Drops Blistering Bass Cut “Noid” as Lead Single from ‘Writhing’ EP [PREMIERE]

Noer the Boy unleashes madness in the form of his latest single “Noid,” out now.

Known for his brutal, bass-ridden soundscapes, Noer the Boy thrives in the low end. His deep appreciations for “kinetic beats, industrial sounds, and the unrestricted freedom of computer creation” are on full display here, as the rich tones of “Noid” take hold.

The song opens up with eerie, gritty textures and anticipation, leading into the meat of the production with intricate, buzzing synths and clean bass attacks. Then it’s back for round two, as the distinct elements of “Noid” go off in unruly arrangements, each given ample room to breathe in the mix.

Described as a “composer wielding punishing distortion and avant-garde composition,” Portland-based Noer the Boy is one to look out for. “Noid” marks the lead single from the producer’s upcoming Writhing EP, which drops in full on September 17th.

REZZ Releases “Chemical Bond” with Deathpact, First Single From New Album Out Later This Year

Earlier this week, REZZ announced that her fourth album, Spiral, is due out later this year. Today, she dropped the first single from the album featuring collaborator Deathpact, “Chemical Bond.”

The two have previously collaborated on Beyond The Senses single “Kiss of Death” and Certain Kind Of Magic single “Life & Death,” making this the third album in a row the two have worked together. (Spotify doesn’t list Beyond The Senses as a proper album, but the press release states Spiral is REZZ’s fourth album, so we’re going with their interpretation.)

“Chemical Bond” starts off with some pretty heavy-handed synth work that feels like an insane rapper is about to lay down a flow, but instead, we get the minimal bass for which we’ve come to know both artists. At just over two minutes, it doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of time to really get into the track, so it will be interesting to see where in the flow of the album this song is placed.

In 2021, REZZ has put forth three distinct collaborations, “Sacrificial” with PVRIS, “Hypnocurrency” with deadmau5, and “Taste of You” featuring Dove Cameron, apparently none of which will be on the album if “Chemical Bond” is the “first single.” Meanwhile, she has teased collaborations with Grimes, Svdden Death’s VOYD and more, which could end up on the album.

Check out “Chemical Bond” below.

A Fan Of Tiësto Had His Ashes Fired from Confetti Cannon at Creamfields Festival

Tiësto took part in a very special tribute at Creamfields over the weekend.

According to a report from BBC, the ashes of a late Tiësto fan were shot from a confetti cannon during the DJ’s headlining set, to honor a request from the deceased’s family.

Stuart Mitchell, a 30-year-old EDM lover described as a “funny guy with a lot of love,” sadly took his own life in July. He had purchased a ticket to attend Creamfields music festival, which was sold to help fund his funeral.

A letter from his father Julian, addressed to cousins Ryan and Liam Millen, included a small amount of his son’s ashes. “I would be most grateful if you were able to scatter them somewhere at Creamfields, so that he truly went there one last time,” the note read.

Organizers stepped in and suggested the ashes be fired out during the closing performance on Sunday night.

“I thought ‘oh my goodness, he’s going to Creamfields’,” Ms. Mitchell said. “But I did not expect ‘we blew him out of a cannon’.”

Mitchell’s sister Laura described the gesture as “amazing and overwhelming.” She added that Tiësto’s “Adagio for Strings” played out at her brother’s funeral.

In addition, the cousins printed a banner in Mitchell’s memory, featuring a photo of him and his three-year old son that read: “This last dance is for you mate.”

Spotify Launches Blend Feature to Connect Friends Through Personalized Playlists

Spotify just introduced Blend, a new way to share music with friends.

Described as social listening sessions, the feature merges music from two users together onto one distinct playlist. Each Blend is updated daily with personalization capabilities and collaborative playlist functionality.

Spotify explains:

Blend is a new way for two friends to merge their musical tastes into one curated playlist made just for them, making it even easier for users to connect, discover, and share the music they love with one another.

Blend was in beta for months, before finally becoming available for all users on Spotify. Blend playlists are initiated and found in Spotify’s Made For You section.

Simply invite a friend to blend with — as long as they have a Spotify Free or Premium plan — and Blend will grow with each user over time based on how their listening changes.

Get started by tapping “Create Blend” in the Made For You hub, then “Invite” to select a friend to blend with. Once your friend accepts the invitation, Spotify will combine your listening preferences and tastes together. Profile icons will appear next to each track, revealing who influenced each select.

More info and Blend experiences here via Spotify.
