TroyBoi & Chris Marshall Make Waves with Reggae-Infused “Gyal” Collab [WATCH]

TroyBoi teams up with Jamaican dancehall artist Chris Marshall in his latest single, “Gyal.”

Continuing the producer’s hot streak of flavorful releases, “Gyal” marks TroyBoi’s first venture into reggae. The steamy, tropical collab boasts addictive vocals, clean plucks and a booming beat, priming the dance floor with proper end-of-summer vibrations.

Accompanying the production is a vibrant, tripped out visual representation from Will Selviz and Terry Williams. The music video matches the allure of “Gyal,” destined to make some serious waves leading into TroyBoi’s much anticipated second album.

Just recently, TroyBoi prepped fans for the upcoming release in sharing: “My first album is 4 years old today. Think it maybe time for a second one…”

Kaskade Drops Hypnotic Remix of SLANDER & Dylan Matthew’s “Love Is Gone” [LISTEN]

Kaskade has tranformed SLANDER & Dylan Matthew’s staple and cinematic production “Love Is Gone” into an entrancing dance floor anthem.

Glimmering synths and emotive swells send this remix straight into a hypnotic atmosphere, as familiar lyrics take hold, finding perfect harmony with deep melodics and four on the floor rhythm. This thoughtful reimagination follows up another from R3HAB, continuing SLANDER’s second round of “Love Is Gone” remixes.

SLANDER share of the forthcoming collection:

We are so excited to finally reveal the second remix pack for “Love Is Gone”! For this pack we reached out to some absolute legends in dance music, and we were thrilled they wanted to be a part of it. In particular Armin and Kaskade were two of the first electronic DJ’s we ever saw perform and they left lasting positive impressions on us until this day. Getting remixes from them is literally a dream come true and we are so grateful.

Also worth noting, the original version of the track achieved RIAA Certified Gold status in August.

Your EDM Premiere: Ian Snow & KYB – Anarchy

Hot off the press today as a brand new release for FiXT Noir, a bass music-focused division of the FiXt label, comes ‘Anarchy.’ Produced by Chicago’s Ian Snow in conjunction with Aussie artist KYB, this is the first exclusive single to drop from Snow’s forthcoming EP titled Dissolution.

After spending some years in the EDM scene as SNOWMASS, Ian Snow has recently rebranded both his name and sound, putting a focus on exploring mid-tempo with a darkly charged energy. The link-up with KYB happened well prior to the pandemic, but the pair were able to work on and complete ‘Anarchy’ by sending fresh versions back and forth to each other.

It’s unapologetic and meticulously rhythmical, moving between striking builds and explosive riffs. Snow explains: “As I started listening to artists like KYB, Made By Tsuki, and Blanke, I quickly learned that Australians have a sixth sense for bass music, mid-tempo especially. Working with Kye has been a breeze. It’d bring a tear to my eye whenever I’d send him a new version, and he’d call me a “sick c**t.” It’s absurd to think that it’s been two years since the start of this track, but that’s what a pandemic will do to ya I guess … I’m really looking forward to finally seeing some crowds go buck wild to this one.”

Don’t forget to pre-save the EP right here.

No Mana Reignites Electro House With 19-Track Compilation ‘Electromag’ on Mau5trap

Years ago, electro house reigned supreme. Then came trap, big room, future bass, riddim, and more. As tastes shifted, new sounds began to take over live music stages and the once illustrious genre fell into the metaphorical depths. But as cycles repeat, it’s time once again for electro house to stand on top.

Leading the charge is No Mana, who presents Electromag — out today — a 19-track compilation featuring singles from himself, Tommy Trash, Wolfgang Gartner, EDDIE, Bentley Dean, James Egbert, and more.

“‘Electromag’ exists in a world where broke college kids exchange wordpress blog posts for backstage passes,” says No Mana on his compilation, “where the French and Italians throw the best parties, where the only cameras in the club are disposable ones. A world where Electro House is great again.”

The compilation is an unabashed blast from the past, full of nostalgic synths and effects and energertic four-on-the-floor rhythms that make it feel like it’s 2011 again. From familiar faces like Tommy Trash and Wolfgang Gartner to breakout stars within the space like EDDIE and Bad Disk, No Mana creates a whirring compilation for the ages from newcomers and titans alike.

Check out the full compilation below!

In tandem with the release of his Electromag compilation, No Mana embarks on his Electromag tour, which kicked off September 4 at Day Trip in Los Angeles, CA, and hits major cities across the entirety of North America before concluding in March of 2022.

Elements Festival Issues Apology to Attendees for “Logistical Issues & Disappointments”

Elements Music & Arts Festival has responded with an apology following its 2021 installment, which has been widely criticized by attendees and compared to Fyre Festival.

In its fourth year, the “rain or shine” event was set to take place over September 3 – 6 in the secluded area of Lakewood, Pennsylvania. However, storms caused by Hurricane Ida caused a number of problems that snowballed into more problems — logistical issues and long wait times, as well as unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

A statement addressed to Elements Family reads:

We want to thank all of our fans, artists, and the community who attended Elements Music and Arts Festival 2021. Notwithstanding a number of issues related to the impacts of Hurricane Ida, we preserved and shared many blissful moments of music and connection.

We recognize that some of you endured extraordinary wait times and discomfort getting into the Festival on Friday. We apologize for these logistical issues and the disappointments they caused. There was significant damage to our parking lots from Hurricane Ida, which led to major delays into the festival. More delays were caused by precautions developed as a result of the hurricane. We were forced to change the location of parking lots and check-in spaces due to remaining flooding issues on Friday.

The aftermath of the hurricane and the long-lasting repercussions of COVID-19 exacerbated common festival issues, including some long food and water lines and restroom cleanliness. We wanted all attendees onsite to have the best experience of all time, and we will work hard to improve.

In addition, Elements provides a dedicated email address, welcoming comments and concerns related to the 2021 event. The statement makes no mention of refunds.

Space Yacht & REAPER Team Up For First D&B Compilation, “Critical Mass Vol. 1”

People can preach “20xx is the year of drum & bass” all they want, but actions speak louder than words. That being said, it does appear that those words are being manifested more than ever this year, at least in the US with Brownies & Lemonade’s debut DNBNL showcase, and now Space Yacht’s first drum & bass compilation, Critical Mass Vol. 1, curated half and half with REAPER.

“The Critical Mass compilation is a glimpse into drum and bass’s momentous energy. One of my favorite parts about this diverse collection of music is that it can be enjoyed all the way from the warehouse to the stadium,” says REAPER.

Space Yacht is a particularly apt platform for this sort of compilation. As part of the events world, Space Yacht has been tuned into bass music for over five years, speaking with REAPER in particular for most of that time, and fellow compilation signee and Play Me Records boss Reid Speed for just a bit longer. With the launch of the Space Yacht record label late last year, the timing was ripe. Hell, even LondonBridge, one of Space Yacht’s founders, has his roots in jungle from when he first learned to DJ.

Critical Mass Vol. 1 features many artists who’ve played Space Yacht, and many who haven’t. As the compilation was curated 50% each by SY and REAPER, there’s a significant variety in sounds and artists who grace the project. REAPER teams up with Slang Dogs for the opening track, and Kumarion, Justin Hawkes (fka Flite), Slippy, Poni, and debut Space Yacht artist CLB all make an appearance on Critical Mass.

Check out every delicious track below, and viva la Drum & Bass!

Odesza Promise New Music Coming in 2022

Odesza have confirmed new music coming in 2022.

Duo members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight share in the post below, dated yesterday: “Today is 4 years since A Moment Apart, Summer’s Gone turned 9 on Sunday and tomorrow will be 7 years since In Return. New music in 2022.”

With social media updates few and far between, this news is especially exciting for Odesza’s loyal following. Although there’s no instant gratification of a forthcoming single, we trust the music will be well worth the wait.

Odesza’s most recent release came in August 2020, when they teamed up with Golden Features for the debut album of their collaborative project, BRONSON. Before that, in November 2019, they dropped their remix of “Waited 4 U” by Slow Magic.

2022 marks the year of Odesza! See below!

Steve Aoki & Armin van Buuren Rinse Out New Collab ID “Music Means Love Forever” [WATCH]

Steve Aoki and Armin van Buuren are joining forces on a massive collaboration — an anthem that declares “Music Means Love Forever.”

The dance music maestros have been rinsing out this new production in recent sets, much to the excitement of both fan bases. The song features epic builds and releases well equipped for the main stage, along with a robotic chant that repeats: “Move, Unite, Dance, Together — Music Means Love Forever!”

Previously, Armin van Buuren and Avian Grays provided a remix for Steve Aoki’s “I Love My Friends” with Icona Pop and Steve Aoki dropped his ‘I Am The Captain Now’ Remix for Armin’s “Mr. Navigator.” This upcoming release will mark the first time they’ve officially collaborated together.

The “Music Means Love Forever” ID played out during Steve Aoki’s set at Escapade Music Festival in Ottawa, Canada over the weekend. Before that, Aoki and Armin dropped the track at Electric Love Festival in Salzburgring, Austria in July.
