LOWSH & Ghost in Real Life Create Deep House Magic with “Don’t Come Back” [LISTEN]

LOWSH and Ghost in Real Life have teamed up for a powerful, deep house delicacy, “Don’t Come Back.”

Demonstrating the softer side of both projects, “Don’t Come Back” takes hold with beautiful intention. The collab sounds instinctual and meant to be — down to the details, with even the softest melodics and organic breaths making their presence known in the mix.

Ozuna Teases New Single With DJ Snake, Plus Megan Thee Stallion & BLACKPINK

The last time we saw DJ Snake and Ozuna team up was for the record-breaking “Taki Taki” with Cardi B and Selena Gomez in 2018, which has already surpassed one billion plays on Spotify. Now, the two are teaming up again for a possibly bigger — and more currently relevant — single coming soon.

At the VMAs this past weekend, Ozuna was interviewed on the red carpet when he let slip to MTV’s Dometi Pongo he has a new single coming with DJ Snake, plus Megan Thee Stallion and BLACKPINK.

No word yet on what this massive single will sound like or when it’s coming out, but rest assured it’s going to be huge, even if it doesn’t necessarily cater to Snake’s more bass-heavy sound.

Check out the interview below.

Your EDM Premiere: NËU Music’s Newest Discovery Maysev Brings the Syncopated Drums

Listen to about 15 seconds of the forthcoming EP Onward from Maysev, due out on NËU Music this Friday, and you’ll know exactly why this largely unknown artist landed a full EP with the imprint on his very first release. Experimental, syncopated, drums-based sound science bouncing off every wall is likely what one would find if one entered the respective neral studios that banter around in Phace and Misanthrop’s heads. There’s no way they would let this one get away with drums like that and a label like NËU.

Teaming up with fellow NËU alums Matens and Secula on two of the tracks, Maysev more than holds his own on the spicy Onward and shows, despite being a bit of a neophyte, he’s definitely earned his place with the exacting German imprint. From the punishing, incredibly complex opening track “Tunnel Drive” with Matens whose melody is even made out of drumlines to the startlingly emotional and Kraftwerk-inspired 174 techno of “All Out” to the heavy, cinematic sound design on “Koram” with Secula, Onward is not only clean and expertly produced, it’s incredibly diverse.

Our premiere today is the closing track on Onward is “Realize,” another stunning emotive and also somehow jaunty foray into playing with drums. Cut apparently at 161 BPM, “Realize” has an interesting hip hop-style groove to it that once again shows Maysev’s diversity: he’s techy enough, clearly, to hang with the neuro and experimental giants of the scene but he can also marry true rhythm with all those other elements. This track also really highlights the cinematic, almost ambient synth work Maysev is capable of which really ties the EP together and likely will galvanize this young upstart’s place in the scene faster than even he expects.

If this is the 20-year-old Maysev’s starting point for production, the bass music world had better get ready: he’s about to change the game. Onward being tailor-made for NËU’s ultimate drumline fantasy EP aside, the production chops on this artist are genuinely only limited by time and his own imagination.

Onward EP drops in full this Friday, September 17. Click here to pre-order or pre-save on multiple platforms.

Jvanz Drops New Single And Prepares For Debut NFT To Go Live To Auction This Thursday

Riding high off the release of his brand new single “Reach Into Myself,” rising singer and songwriter Jvanz is now gearing up to release his very first NFT, with its auction going live this Thursday on his website. Powered by MoneGraph, Jvanz’s exclusive digital art piece aims to transcend the meaning of the song, while conveying the journey from darkness towards the light. As Jvanz reveals, 5% of the final NFT sale price will be donated to the charitable organization “1% For The Planet,” while the owner of the 1 of 1 digital artwork will also be given exclusive access to its behind-the-scenes creation, and be notified early when Jvanz is ready to drop his upcoming series of NFT collectibles.
“I wanted there to be no face or features, just the light that represents beauty within a person, the magic of their soul. Most of us only fall for what we see at first sight. It takes a deeper look and reaching into yourself to really see the beauty within a person for who they truly are. I’ve realized one’s true beauty and energy lies within and sometimes we need to ‘reach into ourselves’ to find that,” explains the artist about the NFT.
Jvanz’s “Reach Into Myself,” the single attached to the NFT drop, finds him combining house sensibilities with irresistible pop songwriting and vocal performances, while striving to look beyond someone’s appearance, and into their soul and character.

As a successful independent artist, definitely Jvanz knows how to use all the readily available tools at hand in order to expand his reach and take his career to the next level. Jvanz started teaching himself how to sing while still in elementary school, uploading original songs and covers to YouTube, before teaming up with his longtime friend Mohammed to start the music platform MoJo, uploading trap soul freestyle videos on Instagram and achieving his first taste of success. Now, Jvanz has received praise from the likes of Lyrical Lemonade, Rolling Stone and many more, and it’s looking like sky is the limit for this young artist.

Back in September 2019, Dutch trio Noisia announced that they’d be splitting at the end of 2020, but following the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to postpone the ‘end of Noisia’ until the close of 2021 to allow them to say goodbye to as many of their Dutch and international fans as possible.

Now, they’ve announced their US ‘Farewell Tour’ dates, including shows in Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, and more. Available late 2020, the ‘Outer Edges Live’ release featured their blistering 25-track live set, along with the film of their Outer Edges Live show at Roskilde 2017; the sixty minute film captured one of the most impressive AV shows in contemporary electronic music. The full film can be viewed on Noisia’s YouTube channel.

Noisia’s first new music for 2021 landed in June in the form of ‘Supersonic’, a long anticipated collaboration with Skrillex.

Ten Years Ago Today, Porter Robinson Released His Debut EP, ‘Spitfire,’ on OWSLA

The electronic music scene ten years ago looked a lot different than it does today. Artists weren’t getting their tracks in major motion pictures, AAA video game titles weren’t creating full albums of EDM-inspired tracks, let alone creating bespoke events in-game, nor were there any major fashion brands giving artists sponsorships or ambassadorships. Today, EDM artists are selling out the biggest stadiums in world and tackling new challenges, but it’s nice to look back at when times were simpler.

Today marks ten years since the release of Spitfire, the groundbreaking debut EP from Porter Robinson. Back when OWSLA was still releasing music, banking on a no-name at the time like Porter was a risk from a business standpoint, but it was less about the business and more about the raw talent that this 19-year-old oozed out of every pore.

Almost every song on Spitfire is iconic, from “Unison” to the seminal “100% In The Bitch,” not to mention Knife Party’s remix of “Unison,” themselves still a very young group at the time having just split off from Pendulum.

Spitfire represents an incredible era in dance music, one that those fortunate enough to have experienced in person look back on with fondness. Go back a decade and listen to Porter’s origins below.

SLANDER’s Debut Festival ‘Starbase’ Cancelled Due To New COVID Spike

With less than a month to go until SLANDER’s debut festival, Starbase, in South Carolina, the event has been cancelled due to significant COVID-19 spikes in the state.

The festival was set to feature SLANDER, of course, along with Alison Wonderland, NGHTMRE, Big Gigantic, San Holo, Subtronics, and so many more on October 8-9. However, due to a spike in COVID-19 in South Carolina, the same spike being seen across the country, the festival has been cancelled with no new dates as of now.

As of this past week, the current 7-day average for COVID-19 in South Carolina is higher than the previous peak in January earlier this year, with 17,000 new cases reported on September 6 alone.

“We have made this decision because your safety, and the safety of our staff, artists, and the Charleston community is our #1 priority,” the statement reads. “Right now hospitals in South Carolina are rejecting elective surgery in order to have enough room for the massive surge of COVID patients, and there is no clear end in sight to this current wave.”

In order to be “fluid” with the current situation, no future dates for the debut Starbase have been set. Refunds will automatically issued and should be expected within the next 10-14 days.

You can read the full statement below.
