Alison Wonderland Plays Out Massive IDs for Temple of Wonderland at Red Rocks [WATCH]

Alison Wonderland just took over two sold out nights at Red Rocks for her coveted Temple of Wonderland shows, complete with awe-inspiring production, killer setlists and some brand new IDs!

Anyone who has seen Alison Wonderland live knows she leaves it all on the stage and Temple of Wonderland sets the bar. Incorporating a live band, vocals, cello solos, and mashups/edits is all part of the quintessential AW experience.

Alison Wonderland’s Temple of Wonderland delivers her music in reimagined ways, as she surprises the crowd with fresh takes on staple productions and works in her most recent material. Which brings us to the IDs…

The first is a new signature-style cut that calls out “fuck you, love you, hate you, want you,” before erupting into a gritty, bass-forward trap drop. Another one called “Forever” is a synth-filled ballad with a massive, euphoric presence. Both of which Alison Wonderland sang live, making these unreleased moments even more special.

See “Forever” play out below and listen to both IDs via this tweet.

Barbie Launches Music Producer Dolls to “Highlight the Gender Gap in the Industry”

With women making up less than 3% of music producer, Barbie has parnered with MTV, Ester Dean & Girls Make Beats to inspire and empower.

Music Producer Barbie has arrived in 2021, not a moment too soon.

Mattel just announced Music Producer as Barbie’s Career of the Year as part of its Dream Gap Project. The ongoing global initiative launched in 2018 as a means to gives girls the resources and support they need to continue believing in themselves.

“With over 200 careers and counting, Barbie is mixing it up as a music producer to show girls more role models in this space and encourage purposeful play through careers they may not be familiar with,” a press release states.

Lisa McKnight, SVP and Global Head of Barbie & Dolls, Mattel shares:

As part of our ongoing Dream Gap Project, Barbie is dedicated to leveling the playing field for girls in careers where women are underrepresented, like music producer. By exposing girls to inspiring women excelling in this role, like Ester Dean, and by highlighting the music producer career with dolls, Barbie is reminding girls of their limitless potential. Our partnership with Girls Make Beats takes our efforts one step further, championing female voices from the studio to the stage and giving girls the tools to help them pursue a future as a music producer.

Producer/singer/songwriter Ester Dean adds:

I am honored to lend my voice to Barbie to inspire young girls to learn more about becoming a music producer. While female voices are heard from the stage, so many critical decisions are made behind the scenes and in the studio. Having been in the industry for over a decade, I’ve witnessed the power female voices can have in shaping the future of music production and want to ensure more women are in the room.

Barbie will host a live webinar with Girls Make Beats and Ester Dean, open to girls ages 5-17, in an effort to help empower future music producers. More info and sign up here.

In addition, Barbie and MTV will host an hour-long takeover of MTV’s Saturday Music Video Block to feature music hits produced exclusively by women. It happens on September 18 at 8 AM ET.

Keys N Krates announces new album ‘Original Classic’ + enlists Juicy J, Chip, and Marbl on title track

Since exploding into mainstream popularity with their trap anthem “Dum Dee Dum” in 2013, Keys N Krates have gone through many stylistic changes. Though they releases tons of music in the years following, it wasn’t until their debut album Cura in 2018 that fans internalized that the KNK they once knew wasn’t the same one that was making music now. And, like Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Zedd, Porter Robinson, and others who went on to transition away from their original sound, that’s completely okay. And, often times, it results in truer music.

Today, the trio announced the release date for its new album Original Classic, available everywhere on November 12th. With the announcement, Keys N Krates also shares the new single and album title track “Original Classic (feat. Juicy J, Chip, and Marbl).” The song is an impending party anthem lead by an entrancing, drum-driven beat and features verses from the legendary Juicy J, London heavyweight rapper Chip, and UK singer Marbl. “Original Classic” follows two other songs recently released from Keys N Krates, “Brazillian Love Song” and the Bibi Bourelly collaboration “Take It Off.”

Speaking on the latest single, the band stated: “We love taking unlikely people, and putting them on unlikely beats while making the whole thing feel very organically like its own vibe. Jazzy voiced wavy chords, 808s, eerie strings, Afro-Brazillian rhythms; with Juicy J, Chip, and Marbl going crazy but sitting in a hypnotic pocket that feels driving and timeless.”

The band’s last album, A Beat Tape For Your Friends, came out back in 2019. Check out “Original Classic” below!

“Original Classic” arrives on the heels of the Original Classic Tour announcement. The 18-day headlining tour, which will feature DJ sets from the group, kicks off on November 17th in Washington D.C. and includes stops in Detroit, Chicago, NYC and more. Tickets on sale here.

Swedish House Mafia Tease Fans With Announcement, Then Drop Brand Partnership with IKEA… For 2022

Just days after The Weeknd posted confirming a collaboration with juggernaut trio Swedish House Mafia, the group posted an idiosyncratically cryptic tweet with booming synths and ending with “9.16.21” — today’s date. All signs pointed to the release of the collaboration, thought to be titled “Moth to a Flame,” today.

However, as it turns out… the tweet was in reference to an apparent brand partnership with another Swedish juggernaut: IKEA.

“With both of us sharing a curiosity about creativity in the home, especially music creation, as well as making it accessible for everyone, it was a perfect match,” the trio shared on Instagram. “The collection consists of products designed to make it easier and more welcoming to get into a creative flow in your own home. The design supports creating, playing, enjoying and even just setting the mood. In our own environment we really put a lot of effort into our surroundings, making sure that it is in tune with our own frequency and creative state of mind.”

It’s important to note that SHM never once mentioned The Weeknd or directly alluded to the collaboration being released today. Fans did that all on their own. Still, it’s an example of a recurring pattern with the group, providing hype for something intangible and unclear, fans running away with their ideas, and then becoming disappointed when it wasn’t what they expected.

We’re sure to get that Weeknd collaboration at some point, it’s been confirmed as much. However, the fan response to the announcement is not only expected but a little hilarious.

Make ppl wait 9 years + 1 more year for something that’s not even a song from the 2019 tour

Live Nation Set to Acquire 51% of OCESA, Mexico’s Largest Concert Promoter

Live Nation is positioned to acquire 51% of OCESA Entretenimiento — Mexico’s largest concert promoter — for $444 Million.

OCESA is not only a major player in Latin America’s live events industry as the owner of Ticketmaster Mexico, but also owns and multimedia company Grupo Televisa. The company works with EDC Mexico and beyond.

The acquisition was first announced in mid-2019, but was delayed due to the pandemic. In that time, the price has dropped from a reported $480 million to $444 million.

Per the announcement, “OCESA promotes more than 3,100 events for nearly 6 million fans in a typical year across Mexico and Colombia and has a robust business portfolio in ticketing, sponsorship, food & beverage, merchandise, and venue operation with 13 premier venues across Mexico with a collective capacity of nearly 250,000 seats.”

Michael Rapino, President and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment states via press release:

After serving as Live Nation’s touring, festival, and ticketing partner in Mexico for years, we know OCESA is a stellar business with deep roots in live entertainment in Mexico. Alex has built a remarkable company and as we continue to build on the return to live, OCESA will play a pivotal role in putting together many incredible shows in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

The deal is expected to close later this year, though it is subject to regulatory approval.

Amsterdam Music Festival Cancelled Due To COVID, But ADE Will Still Go On

Annual events Amsterdam Music Festival and Amsterdam Dance Event, two of the largest gatherings of dance music fans in the world every year, are facing a crisis this year along with most other events. The former, typically the stage for the reveal of DJ Mag’s Top 100 top 5/10 DJs reveal, will unfortunately not go ahead as planned due to Dutch COVID restrictions calling for the closure of nightclubs until November 1.

“We did all we could to reunite with you on the dancefloor again, but the world is still in a very surreal place and we will have to sadly miss you for one more year. It breaks our hearts that we will have to wait until 22 October 2022 to come together again in our music sanctuary in Amsterdam. ⁣⁣”

However, Amsterdam Dance Event, the larger, overarching networking and conference event that oversees the festival every year, will move forward.

In a statement on their website, they say, “Until the Dutch government makes its definite decision on these proposed measures, ADE will proceed with its preparations for October in close collaboration with the Amsterdam municipality.”

It continues, “We will be able to provide more clarity on the situation when the government determines its next set of measures on September 17th at the latest. The coming weeks are dependent on the decisions made by the Dutch government and we urge the cabinet to provide clarity as soon as possible, but as always, we are staying focused on the possibilities rather than the limitations facing us.”

We will keep our readers updated on the situation as it unfolds.
