Tomorrowland Shoots for Three Festival Weekends in 2022 to Compensate for Cancellations

Tomorrowland is requesting three festival weekends in 2022.

The leading dance music event, which usually takes place over two weekends annually, is planning to add another due to “economic necessity to compensate for the cancellations.”

“We really have to do this to cushion the financial hangover,” Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen revealed to Het Laatste Nieuws. “Before Covid, there were no plans to start organising three weekends.”

Not only has Tomorrowland been forced to cancel its staple event in Boom, Belgium for two years running, but its Tomorrowland Winter installment as well.

“Do not forget that we have already had to miss six festival weekends, four in Belgium and another two in France with Tomorrowland Winter,” Wilmsen said.

In addition to locked in weekends of July 22-24 and July 29-31, Tomorrowland would also take place July 15-17 in 2022. This request must be accepted by Boom and Rumst municipalities and the Antwerp province.

If approved, the third weekend of Tomorrowland will be a one-off event, as organizers plan to revert back to two weekends after next year.

Illenium Premieres New, Unreleased Collaboration With 30 Seconds To Mars [WATCH]

This past weekend was packed for events, whether you were at Second Sky in the Bay Area, Nocturnal Wonderland in SoCal, or Life Is Beautiful in Vegas, or any other show at a local venue. But one of the big moments this past weekend was Illenium’s set at LIB where he’d promised to premiere a new song. And boy, did he deliver…

During his set on the Bacardi stage, he dropped a new, unreleased collaboration with 30 Seconds To Mars. (Video below.)

Based on the lyrics alone, the song could be titled, “Wouldn’t Change A Thing,” but as of yet, no official title has been given. It’s also incredible to hear Jared Leto completely adapt his vocal style to mesh with Illenium’s production, though there’s likely more to the song we haven’t heard wherein Leto gets to belt a bit.

Check out the video below to get an idea of what to expect when this comes out!

I promised to play some new new this weekend https://t.co/m5OiafXa3y

Oliver Heldens Remixes House Classic “Another Chance” for its 20th Anniversary

Roger Sanchez’s “Another Chance” is an all time house classic. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Oliver Heldens gave the former number one single an official remix that maintains the nostalgia of the original, while showcasing a more modern progressive house sound. Oliver has been playing out this track at some of his most recent live sets, including Lollapalooza and Creamfields UK, and the crowds have been loving it.

The track opens sounding a lot like the original, with that iconic vocal refrain echoing in the background. The track starts building until we get to the pulsating drop with varied synth notes playing over the low-end. The sound is reminiscent of some of Oliver’s more recent tracks like “Balearic Mornings” and his “By Your Side” remix. Here’s what both legends had to say about this iconic track.

“Roger’s ‘Another Chance’ is one of my all time favorite House/Dance music records, so it’s such a big honor for me to do this remix for the 20 year anniversary of this iconic song! While trying to stay true to the original, I went with a more modern Progressive House approach and the result is pretty epic, but still timeless I think. I’m super happy with the great response on it so far from my recent shows in the US and at Creamfields in the UK, and judging by all the DJs that have already hit me up about this remix, we might hear it on many different dance floors in the near future. Hope you like it too!” – OH

“I’m excited at the approach Oliver has taken to ‘Another Chance’ – he has kept the spirit of the original, but added his vibe to it and the result is epic! It’s been great collaborating on this version with him, and I’m looking forward to seeing the reactions on the dance floor!” – RS

The Chainsmokers, Disclosure, Steve Aoki & More Back Audius with $5 Million Funding

Major artists including The Chainsmokers, Disclosure and Steve Aoki are backing Audius in a $5 million round of strategic funding.

Other artists who have donated to Audius include Katy PerryMike Shinoda, Nas, and Jason DeRulo.

Audius recently came onto the scene as a music streaming and sharing platform that puts power back into the hands of content creators. The blockchain-enabled music platform claims to have over 6 million monthly users and counting.

The Chainsmokers share their excitement about joining the platform:

It’s a purer alternative to the more polished album rollouts that we will continue to deliver. As an artist it’s empowering to share different creative choices and to test stuff out in a lower-stakes environment.

Additionally, for us the role of developing a community around our music has always allowed us to grow and motivated us to take risks. Audius continues to empower the artists and their community to seek freedom in all aspects of their art as the music business hopefully shifts more in favour of the artists fuelling the economy.

More on the funding initiative here.
