Moog Adds Exciting New Addition to the Moog Sound Studio Experience + Exclusive Compilation

When it comes to analog synths, theres no name quite as iconic as Moog. Over the decades they have developed an iconic brand around their synthesizers that are quite unlike any other. Earlier this year, they announced Moog Sound Studio, designed for synthesis newcomers and professional artists. It introduced a uniquely comprehensive approach to exploring modular synthesis that had creators buzzing with excitement.

Now, the all-in-one synthesis exploration package includes a three-tier option to bring creatives the full suite of Moog’s 60HP-format semi-modular instruments in one thoughtfully curated package. The value is incredible and a no-brainer for artists who are looking to expand their creativity and explore the world of analog synthesis for the first time or to continue to explore sound in an immersive new way.

Along with the powerful trio of analog synthesizers (Mother-32 , DFAM, and Subharmonicon), each user receives a custom dust cover, dedicated audio mixer and power distribution hub, rack kit, audio cables, patch cables, cable organizer, synth exploration card game, creative learning tools, artwork, and more—all for $1,999 USD, which is a which is less than the price of these three instruments if purchased separately. This is unbelievable value for any creator.

In addition to this exciting announcement, Moog also released an exclusive compilation album, Explorations in Analog Synthesis, Volume II, featuring an array of talented artists like Boy Harsher, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Galcher Lustwerk (and more!). All artists involved created original compositions that demonstrate the powerful analog sound and sonic possibilities Moog Sound Studio offers. It’s fascinating to listen to and will have you itching to join the Moog Sound Studio and start creating with these incredible synthesizers.

From the teams behind MDLBEAST and SOUNDSTORM – the Middle East’s “biggest and loudest music festival” – and in partnership with the Saudi Music Commission, comes XP, a three-day music event with a conference & nightlife aspect, created to amplify music futures across the Middle East. XP will take place in Riyadh from December 13-15 and is set to become the most forward-thinking gathering of music leaders in the region.

Through workshops, panel discussions and roundtables, networking opportunities, and music activations, XP will expand opportunities for music industry professionals of all backgrounds including artists, entrepreneurs, creatives, and policymakers as they come together in building the future for the region’s music industry.

Ramadan Alharatani, CEO of MDLBEAST, says: “XP is a first for the region and will serve as the foundation for a thriving music industry across the Middle East. Providing a platform to authenticate and further build the music industry in the region, local and international guests will be embraced by the wealth of possibility offered by this exciting new market over the three days. Through XP, we aim to join the global conversation, and by hosting such an event we will continue to build & accelerate the music infrastructure across the region.”

The foundations of XP are built on four key building pillars.

The first pillar focuses on talent development and aims to establish careers in music for local and regional talent while providing new audiences for established artists.
The second pillar looks at furthering research, advocacy & policy development with the aim of building a strong and sustainable music ecosystem.
Pillar three is built around developing the scene and mapping out opportunities to nourish the region’s emerging music industry.
The fourth pillar focuses on impact & social purpose, initiating dialogue around music, mental health, wellbeing, and diversity in the industry.

These four pillars combined will offer an integrated approach on amplifying the region’s music industry.

Nada Alhelabi, XP Program Director, added: “Through these conversations, we want it to inspire future generations to consider a career in the industry and promote music as a vehicle for job creation and innovation, making it a sustainable industry from which they can profit. A big focus for us is promoting diversity, wellbeing, and fair working conditions to empower females and give a voice to minority groups within the industry.”

Leading international and regional music industry executives and artists are being invited to participate as speakers and delegates in what will be a truly ground-breaking opportunity to contribute to building a new music and creative ecosystem that will offer benefits and opportunities for all.

XP programming will differ from daytime to night-time with various events taking place throughout. New Artist Spotlight: Get in on the Ground Floor With No Past No Future

Now this is a true New Artist Spotlight: multi-city pop-hop collective No Past No Future only has one single out thus far: the inimitably catchy and smooth “The Plug.” The promise of this track, however, is big enough to warrant both press and fans following them now.

Comprised of songwriter/artist Yung Hemmingway and producers Ty-Kee and Earl, No Past No Future is really a signpost for the label they’ve already set up, of the same name as their project. N.P.N.F, as its smartly been shortened to, was inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s spirituality-for-beginners book The Power of Now. Yung Hemmingway says the concept of being present in the present is key to the project’s success, as is mutual support.

When one of us is getting in our heads, we motivate one another to stay present in the moment. This really helps me as the lone artist. There is a lot of doubt, anxiety and pressure you deal with being a new artist. I found myself having difficulty just being able to start the process until I met these guys.”

That “power of now” has certainly clicked with the young trio, as well as the concept of no time, no space. The group currently straddle three time zones, with Hemmingway in Chicago, Ty-Kee based in Atlanta and Earl living in Los Angeles. With current technology making it easier than ever for artists to work remotely, it seems the most important thing for this group is the vibe. If “The Plug” is any indication, they’ve got it in spades.

The teaser to the collective’s upcoming EP is surprisingly chill and funky for all that spiritual posturing. There’s definitely a celestial tint to both Hemmingway’s vocals and the synth design that accompanies them in “The Plug,” but the prevailing vibe here is pop and funk. It’s a great medium for the group to insert their higher purpose into the track while making it palatable to a large audience.

Chill, fun and with bite-sized, Tolle-inspired self-care messages seems to be the way forward for this pop collective. As their whole philosophy and label are designed around these concepts, it’s clear audiences can expect more of this uplifting vibe from No Past No Future. Windy, whimsical reminders to stay present is something we can all get down with right now, and it certainly helps that this trio can bring it in perfectly pitched pop form. N.P.N.F are definitely a collective, label and artist group to watch.

“The Plug” is out now and available to stream on Spotify. Stay tuned for news about N.P.N.F’s upcoming EP.

New Artist Spotlight: Paul Feder’s Dreamy First EP Conjures Thoughts of the ‘Nightwalk’ that Is its Title [Video]

It’s a fun time for pop and indie crossover artists right now in terms of how EDM can be used to mesh with those other genres. As more and more pop artists have merged styles with big name EDM producers, the pop and indie worlds have really opened up to the idea that soulful music can be made this way.

With artists like M83, Phantogram and Yeah Yeah Yeahs paving the way, the indietronica movement is alive and kicking now, giving artists like Brooklyn’s Paul Feder some really nice wiggle room to create interesting, introspective work. Feder’s debut EP Nightwalk is proof of that, as it combines lashings of pop, dream pop, indie rock, jazz and EDM. Each track is a mélange of analog and digital sounds with ambient sound design and melodic synths being the common denominator.

The combination of ambient guitar work, a house beat and pop vocals such as appears on Nightwalk‘s first single “Lose My Mind” is the best indication of what Feder’s already quite mature style is shaping up to be. The single teased the August drop of Nightwalk with an equally innovative video directed by Feder himself and fellow Brooklynite video artist Permian Strata.

That said, if one were to only hear “Lose My Mind” and Feder’s earlier remixes of indie vocalist Holly Abraham’s 2018 hit “Shore” and Jane In Space‘s “Mental Abrasions,” one might entirely miss Feder’s more experimental side, which is all over the rest of NIghtwalk. Still containing lots of pop vocal cachet, the EP’s title track has more of an industrial vibe to the intro, but after the first verse, it takes quite a different turn, with analog drums and celestial electronic flourishes. Emotive, complex and jazz-tinged, this track offers a contrast to “Lose My Mind,” this track is a tell to listeners that the rest of Nightwalk may not be what they expect.

“Desert Run” is similarly introed with an industrial beat and laced with rock/jazz drums but it’s also where Feder lays into the dream pop quality of his vox. “Tooth and Heart” follows with its 80s synth pop vibes while the vocals become more of a story than an accompaniment. Feder seems intent on having some analog flourish to every track on the EP, and in this case it’s back to his guitar, which indeed adds a punchy live music flourish. Feder plays all the instruments that feature on Nightwalk, so if he’s that diverse in his skills it stands to reason his music would be thus as well.

Nightwalk ends with another jaunty, 80-inspired track called “Floodlights,” its house beat sort of bookending the genre-straddling EP with EDM vibes. It seems Feder is in no hurry to pick a side, per se, but Nightwalk serves as a declaration that he can and will take his style wherever he wants. He certainly has the musical chops to do so.

Nightwalk is out not and can be purchased on Paul Feder’s Bandcamp page or streamed on Spotify.

Jauz, Habstrakt, Gammer, & More Reveal Where Some Of Their Most Famous Samples Come From

Sometimes, people are just in the mood to come clean. And sometimes it turns out like this thread of quote tweets yesterday from the likes of CLB, Chris Lorenzo, Jauz, FuntCase, Gammer, and Habstrakt spilling the beans on “stealing” samples from some of their friends on some of their most famous works.

Of course, we use the term “stealing” very lightly and only in conjunction with the artists’ own admission, but it’s really just friends sharing until someone gets mad enough to say something about it. But from all of these replies, it seems everyone is in good spirits about it all.

Sometimes it’s a kick, sometimes it’s a snare, sometimes it’s a synth … whatever it is, some of these samples and elements made these songs what they are. Perhaps all at once most surprising and most obvious, the opening chords from Gammer’s “The Drop” came straight from the stems of Porter Robinson’s “Sad Machine.”

Check out some of the confessions below and go back and listen to the tracks and see if you can hear it!

i need to come clean…. i stole the @Lorenzosbeats “hallucinogen” kick and used it in every house track i made for like two years https://t.co/frnsGJXkDe

— ✪ CLB ✪ (@CLB_sounds) September 23, 2021

you fucking thief – although I did a remix for @justinmartin years ago and there was an 808 in the stems that is so tight I still use as my go to sub bass for most things I also stole a @GorgonCity kick from some remix stems! Thanks lads https://t.co/WIOs6kyKgr

— Chris Lorenzo (@Lorenzosbeats) September 23, 2021

I stole @enJOYRYDE kick on Hot drum and I think he stole mine from Chicken soup https://t.co/CzmjJhCr7N

— frenchie (@habstrakt) September 23, 2021

Habby came over one day to my old house with @Ghastly and all of us were working on a song (that never got finished) and during that Habby gave me a few of his Operator racks, and after a good bit of tweaking one of those ended up becoming the sound for Higher with Netsky https://t.co/1N9SmroI3L

— JAUZ $BTX (@Jauzofficial) September 24, 2021

All my tracks with an under layered low snare in from 2009-2011 was a @TCDNB snare I used to use in my dnb projects before FuntCase 🥸 https://t.co/KYoe5scV14

— FuntCase | DPMO (@FuntCaseUK) September 24, 2021

I took the initial sound on
‘The drop’ straight out of the @porterrobinson ‘sad machine’ stems https://t.co/OO3EwLJVlc
