New Bonobo Album “Fragments” Out Next January, First Single “Rosewood” Out Now

Bonobo has announced Fragments, a new album that will be released January 14, 2022 on Ninja Tune, along with a 2022 world tour and the first single, “Rosewood.” The album features Jamila Woods, Joji, Kadhja Bonet, Jordan Rakei, O’Flynn and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Born first out of “fragments” of ideas and experimentation, the album ultimately was fused together in a burst of creativity fueled by both collaboration and Green’s escape into the wild.

“Tides,” featuring Chicagoan singer and poet Jamila Woods, acted as a catalyst, and the album began to click into place around it. “I knew I had a centrepiece, I knew how it was all going to sound,” he says. Working Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, musical themes began to emerge. Recording orchestral musicians in actual studios helped bring the songs “out of the box” even more.

Trivecta has been teasing new music with Wooli for the past couple weeks, and he’s finally revealed the big surprise: Scott Stapp, the singer from Creed, is on the track.

Dillon Francis Releases New Album “Happy Machine” Today On His 34th Birthday

Today is Dillon Francis’s birthday! He’s turning 34, and it seems only right that today, an otherwise random Tuesday, he drops his new album, Happy Machine. Dillon’s discography is vast, from his debut album Money Sucks, Friends Rule in 2018 through his This Mixtape Is Fire. EP the same year, and his Spanish-influenced album WUT WUT in 2018.

Happy Machine definitely leans more house than a lot of his earliest releases, calling on collaborators like Shift K3Y, and plenty of vocalists like Bow Anderson, Hayley May, Liza Owen, Bryn Christopher, and more. It’s a feel-good album that doesn’t particularly strive to reinvent the wheel, rather opting to put some bling on the familiar.

It’s hard to describe Happy Machine as bombastic as MSFR or as diverse as WUT WUT or even as whimsical as Magic Is Real from 2019. It’s simple, feelsy house music that likely won’t make a lasting impact on EDM as a whole. But it doesn’t have to — if Dillon is feeling this vibe, and fans are vibing with it, that’s more than enough.

Check out Happy Machine below and be sure to wish Dillon a happy birthday!

Nirvana’s Hits Reimagined with House & Techno Album in Support of LGBTQ+ Community

Nirvana’s greatest hits have been primed for the dancefloor.

Nirvana Reimagined As House And Techno marks 27 years since frontman Kurt Cobain’s death, celebrating his legacy and the band’s lasting impact. Headed up by producers Jonathan Hay and Cain McKnight, the 27-track collection includes “Come As You Are (Techno Mix),” “Something in the Way (House Mix)” and many more.

In true Nirvana fashion, the music stands for much more, upholding “Kurt Cobain’s unapologetic narrative of LGBTQIA+ visibility, advancement and advocating for victims of rape and sexual abuse.” Proceeds from the recordings go to GLAAD and MusiCares.

Hay and McKnight founded R.U.S.H Music and Tech Row Records and started reimagining popular musical catalogs, while genre-bending the all-time greats including Eric B. & Rakim, The Notorious B.I.G.Tupac Shakur — and now Nirvana.

GRAMMY writer Morgan Enos sums up the release: “Now, we have this unconventional, electronic tribute, presenting Cobain in a context that few would think of, but which makes perfect sense in retrospect.”

Steve Aoki debuts his underground side-project with new single “Aurora”

Steve Aoki has never been one to be pigeon holed into a specific genre, though ‘mainstage-centric’ is definitely the vibe he gives off. Still, his most recent album, Neon Future IV, showed off a lot of diversity and he continues it this year with a release on MDLBEAST Records and a new side project.

MDLBEAST Records welcomes Aoki’s project Ninja Attack to the label with his new release “Aurora.” Riding on deep, driving bass lines and minimal dark melodies via an adventurous leftfield offering, “Aurora” is right at home in the underground house and techno venues around the globe.

“Aurora” is the next step towards the release of MDLBEAST’s forthcoming “SOUNDSTORM Vol. 1” album, following previous forward-thinking singles – Salvatore Ganacci’s “Fight Dirty,” Cosmicat’s “Toxic Romance,” Butch’s “Testarossa” and R3HAB, Skytech & Fafaq’s “Sorry I Missed Your Call.”

SOUNDSTORM was a cultural catalyst for Saudi youth, which will be back in action in December 2021 with a star-studded line-up. Until then, keep an eye out for further releases from this exciting imprint, and check out “Aurora” below.
