Drew Taggart Of The Chainsmokers Talks About What To Expect On Their Upcoming Album

Yesterday, The Chainsmokers appeared as guests along with Shaq on The Artist and The Athlete, a podcast with Lindsay Czarniak. The podcast does just what it says, bringing artists and athletes together and charting their rise to fame and their trajectory in the future.

With The Chainsmokers, it’s fairly well-known that we’re waiting on their fourth album, following a year of basically complete silence. They announced a break from social media in February 2020, just a month before the global pandemic, something that turned out to be tough as everyone was suddenly stuck at home. Later that year, in July, they’d play a charity drive-in show in the Hamptons for which they’d be blasted, investigated, and the organizers fined by the NY State Department of Health.

Now, they’re starting to prepare for the release of their new album, updating their social media (however small it was). On the podcast with Czarniak, they talk about the sound of their new album and returning to the sound of “Roses” and “Closer” and the feeling those songs gave when you heard them for the first time.

“We really lean into the emotion that I think people started following us for in the beginning,” said Drew of the group. “There’s this trend hat a lot of artists including us fall victim to is that you come out with one sound, you get known for it, and then you want to prove to everybody that you can do other things.”

He continued, “Part of that is natural because your tastes as a creative person and your interests or inspiration moves, and you have to follow that. But Alex and I dialed back into that feeling you got when you heard ‘Roses’ or ‘Closer’ for the first time. You know these songs we really had fun making, and strike this kind of nostalgic, melancholy type of feeling, I think that’s our style.

“Every song is really fun. Every song slaps. There’s always a moment that you’re gonna turn your head and you’re like, ‘Yeah, you’re giving me that moment.’ We tried to do that in the past but we really elevated that intention on this album.”

Doctor Neiman Makes NCS Debut Via Grungy Bass Track ‘Wait For Me’

Doctor Neiman debuts on NCS with “Wait For Me,” an epic rock-infused bass track that marks his 6th release under this rapidly growing alias. Kicking off the Doctor Neiman vision at the start of 2021, Subsidia, Circus Records, and now NoCopyrightSounds can’t keep their hands off the inventive productions he’s contributing to the scene.

In “Wait For Me,” a plethora of keen cultural cues and high-octane samples come together forming a memorable, all its own vibe which will naturally appeal to multiple generations of music fans. Vocals that ricochet between screaming and singing set the tone of the dark rock grit at the core of the single. Nasty, raw guitar chords chug unmercifully as the smooth-fitting electronic blending lends a hand to the innovative theme on display. An awe-spiring build-up ascends the moment to a new plateau, thus leading to a juggernaut drop hitting with a rhythmic power, shooting out like pulsing laser beams.

Featuring the screamo-induced vocals of Micah Martin, “Wait For Me,” aligns edgy bass elements with various rock/punk/hardcore-genres all in one go. The creative hybrid design he brings to the table is one of many factors that separates Doctor Neiman from the constant flow of hundreds of other hungry, rising bass artists.

REZZ & Grimes Confirm Collaboration in the Works [DETAILS]

It’s hard to imagine a collaboration more iconic than one between Rezz and Grimes. Luckily we don’t have to imagine for much longer — they’re cooking up their first song together and it can’t come a moment too soon!

Days ago REZZ tweeted out she’s focusing her energy on finishing their collab. Grimes, a star in both the alternative and electronic music spaces, chimed in on the collab years in the works — “finally.”

However, this isn’t the first time Rezz and Grimes have crossed musical paths. Rezz offered a remix of Grimes and  i_o’s “Violence” for Grimes’ Miss Anthropocene (Rave Edition), the remixed treatment of her 2020 alternative album.

Rezz has been busy with a seemingly nonstop cycle of collaborations in recent months, including the long-awaited “Hypnocurrency” with deadmau5 and most recently, “Taste of You” with Dove Cameron, which brought her back together with Grabbitz, as well as Shaun Frank.

The two haven’t dropped any clues just yet as to what the collaboration may hold or when fans can expect it. In the meantime, we have all the confirmation we need below.

Yes 2 years later we may finally make a thing phew !

I’m glad I did the violence remix in between so at least I got to work with ur voice to stall time before our actual collab HAHA was very satisfying

Getter Officially Unveils ‘Some Creature’ EP, Possibly Out This Week

Getter’s new EP is locked, loaded, and officially decoded.

Following up a couple of cryptic messages, the producer confirms his forthcoming 6-track body of work is titled Some Creature. Previously, shares on social media revealed “SIX/ORIGINAL/SONGS” and “GETTER/SOME/CREATURE/EP” in morse code — and now we have the art to prove it.

Along with the image below, Getter also shares a Roman numeral phrase, “CXLVII.” That’s 147 and as EDM Twitter points out, May 27th being the 147th day of the year. An alternative may be 7/14 or July 14th, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the closer release date, just days away.

Apple Music Announces Lossless Audio at No Extra Cost

Starting in June, Apple Music will support spatial audio, also known as lossless audio.

This industry-leading audio format will be available to Apple Music subscribers at no extra cost. At launch only mere thousands of songs will be available in lossless format, however, as it will take time for Apple to convert their catalog of 75 million tracks to FLAC format.

For those who have never heard of lossless audio until this week, lossless audio is an audio file in its purest form, the way the band recorded the song in the studio, or the way your favorite producer created it in a digital audio workspace. Listening to lossless audio is essentially listening to the master file of a song. Pretty sweet, right?

Rather than an MP3 or .WAV file, lossless audio is saved in FLAC format. Apple Music will support lossless audio files up to 24 bits.

In addition, Apple Music will offer support for Dolby Atmos, “an immersive audio experience that enables artists to mix music so the sound comes from all around and from above.”

To start listening to Lossless Audio, subscribers using the latest version of Apple Music can turn it on in Settings > Music > Audio Quality.

The introduction of lossless audio does have some limitations. iTunes music cannot be purchased in lossless format. Already-purchased iTunes tracks cannot be upgraded to lossless audio quality, either. But the move is a step toward a new soundscape in streaming and hopefully, other leading streaming services will follow suit.

We can’t wait to get our immersive listening on — let us know in the comments what song you are most excited to listen to in lossless format!
