Petition to Bring Back Daft Punk Gets Punny Response from UK Government

A petition to bring Daft Punk back has been rejected.

The request to “Bring Back Daft Punk,” submitted to the UK Government and Parliament online can be read here. The argument and conditions are simple and quite reasonable: “Bring back Daft Punk and we want a new album for the pain they’ve put us through.”

Daft Punk unexpectedly broke up in early 2021, ending an era with a single, dramatic explosion. The duo consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have left an unmistakable mark on dance music and culture — and it’s no wonder fans are persistent in asking for their reunion.

Unfortunately, the petition was rejected and here’s why: “It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for. Any decision to re-form Daft Punk, and any potential collaborations, is a matter for them, not the UK Government or Parliament.” Duh. Not to mention… Daft Punk are French.

The best part — “You may Get Lucky and find they choose to reform One More Time.”

[PREMIERE] Maliboux Drops New Music Video For “Freakshow” via Space yacht

Maliboux just dropped his newest banger this past Friday, and the music video just dropped today via Space Yacht.

The song itself is exactly what you want at peak set time, full of exceptionally wonky bass lines and a memorable vocal hook that’ll have you singing along in the club as you wriggle a couple screws loose yourself with all the headbanging you’re doing.

“This song was initially created as the intro for my first tour back in early 2020 before the pandemic,” says Maliboux. “I wanted it to have ominous, dark energy. I envisioned an actual freak show (hence the title) from the late 19th century era, and tried to create a song that would emulate the eerie vibes you might feel attending one back in that day.”

Shot & directed by Brendyn Gilbert & Ricky Lawrence, the video keeps it relatively simple, with only a single man dancing in frame in a bare warehouse. Strobe lights and  dance moves (Dancer: Vinny Balbo) that combine elements of contemporary, and seemingly krump, are all it takes to provide an engaging watching experience as the song plays over the top.

“We initially wanted to make a dance piece that reflected an artificially intelligent man becoming self aware throughout the routine,” reflected Brendyn, “and once we heard ‘Freakshow’ by Maliboux it was like a puzzle fell into place and we finally had our song. We then called up our friend Vinny Balbo who’s this incredible improvisational contemporary dancer and he brought the whole thing to life.”

Skrillex Teases New House Track With Tantalizingly Brief Clip [WATCH]

Skrillex has been on an absolute tear as of late, releasing more music in the past couple months than he has in a long time. Beyond his collaborations with Four Tet and Starrah, and Swae Lee and Siiickbrain, he’s also finally dropped “Supersonic” with Noisia, josh pan, and Dylan Brady.

On top of all that, he’s already teasing a new house tune, possibly titled “Real Drag,” with a gnawingly short clip on social media. The track seems destined for the club circuit with a catchy vocal hook and pounding, hypnotic drums that are sure to turn up the energy whenever it may be dropped.

And speaking of dropping … this is still Skrillex we’re talking about, and there’s no clear cut road map to when this might come out, or even if it ever will. But given his recent track record, and the fact he posted this first to TikTok and then shared that video to Twitter, we have a feeling he’s pretty excited about this one.

Check out the clip below.

David Guetta Selling His 37th Floor Miami Apartment For $14M, Crypto Accepted

Growing up, I’d always hear about how absurdly high prices were for penthouse apartments (or apartments in general) in New York City, but I suppose Miami might be the new wave. David Guetta has just listed his 37th-floor apartment in Miami for $14 million.

To understand the price tag a bit better, his apartment is located in the 5-star Setai Hotel, where rooms start at around $550 per night and can go up to $1,600 or more. The hotel an ocean view, swimming pools, spa, sauna, and 24-hour room service, like a lot of hotels, but you can also purchase permanent residences within the property.

Of course, the apartment isn’t like a typical hotel room itself, boasting three bedrooms and 2,528 square foot in the property. He bought the property for $9.5 million from New York billionaire Richard LeFrak back in 2018 and stands to make $4.5 million from the sale. LeFrak paid $6.75 million for the unit in 2012, property records show.

Guetta was originally renting out the apartment between 2018 and now for $10,000 to $28,000 a week, or $25,000 to $50,000 a month depending on the time of the year, according to Mansion Global.

He’s also accepting Bitcoin or Ethereum for the sale, equivalent to around 380 BTC at today’s prices.
