DJ Snake Recreates Dhee’s Indian Smash Hit “Enjoy Enjaami” for Spotify Singles [LISTEN]

In honor of World Music Day, DJ Snake has teamed up with Tamil artist Dhee to recreate her viral hit “Enjoy Enjaami” as part of the Spotify Singles series.

The independently released track “Enjoy Enjaami,” which dropped in 2021, is an absolute smash in India — having racked up over 15 million plays and counting. Now, DJ Snake reimagines the track, blending distinctive styles influenced by native sounds with his signature and flavorful electronic dance beats.

DJ Snake shares of the release:

Anybody who knows me, knows how special India is to me – I’m always listening and watching for what’s happening there. When I heard ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ for the first time I immediately knew I had to work on it. It was great working with Dhee and to push the new wave of music culture, direct from India. This is the future. Shout-out to Spotify for supporting the vision on this as a Spotify Single

Spotify Singles launched in 2016 to provide artists with the opportunity to re-record one of their existing songs or cover a song of their choice in a fresh new way. The song joins other global collaborations including SahBabii and Joji, Celine Dion and Chris Isaak, and R3HAB and GATTUSO.

The Number of Americans Paying for Audio Subscriptions has Doubled since 2015

When I first started writing about music back in 2014, blogs were the main form of music discovery. There were some radio/music apps, like Pandora, but by and large entities like Spotify or Apple Music wouldn’t become more popular for years, let alone influence the whole landscape of the music industry.

A new study from Edison Research shows an objective rise in the share of Americans who subscribe to audio services, demonstrating those platforms’ rise: “The portion of the American population that is paying for an audio subscription of some kind has doubled since 2015, and is now almost half of everyone (47%).”

Edison notes that the study is a measure of people, not subscriptions — “If two people share a log-in or an account, that’s one subscription but two people who would say ‘yes’ to subscribing,” they clarify.

That being said, it’s hard to discern without the raw data how much of a real effect that sort of counting contributed to the overall tally.

One surprise, however, is that SiriusXM is the largest single subscription audio product in the U.S., primarily because it’s included in new cars that roll off the lot.

You can read a further analysis of the study from Edison Research here.

Skrillex Is Cooking Up Something With Chris Lake In The Studio

Among the many recent releases from Skrillex, we know he has so much more in the works. During quarantine, we saw him in the studio with a number of artists, including Mike Einziger from Incubus and The Beach Boys. He’s recently put out collaborations with Four Tet and Starrah, Swae Lee and Siiickbrain, and another with Noisia, josh pan, and Dylan Brady.

Now, he’s been “spotted” — or rather, reshared a photo from Chris Lake of the two of them in the studio together.

Much like Zedd moving from EDM to pop, it might be time to accept that Skrillex is moving from harder electro/dubstep sounds to, not quite house, but definitely a softer realm of electronic music.

That being said, judging by his previous collaboration with Four Tet, one with Chris Lake is sure to entice and excite.

The usual disclaimer with Skrillex teases applies: we have no earthly way of knowing if or when anything will or could come of this pairing. But it’s fun to know the possibility is there.

Oliver Heldens Drops Another Dirty Banger, “Ma Luv” with MorganJ

Oliver Heldens is back with another banger, “Ma Luv.” Teaming up with Italian producer MorganJ, “Ma Luv” features all of Oliver’s best production tricks in one spot. Pandemic or no, the Dutch megastar has not let off the gas, putting out 26 originals and remixes over the past year! “Ma Luv” will rightly take its place in his catalog and fit seamlessly into his live sets.

Oliver’s most recent releases have been under his Hi-Lo alias, and the tech influence is strong in “Ma Luv.” The synths and vocal refrain harken back to underground 90s raves, the buildup sounds like classic Oliver Heldens. The drop uses that heavy kick-drum featured in Hi-Lo tracks as the synth plays the rhythm over the bassline. “Ma Luv” is sure to light up festivals and clubs alike this summer.

Check out the latest from Oliver Heldens & MorganJ, “Ma Luv” out now on Heldeep.

One Single, Major Deal Catapults David Guetta’s Net Worth Into the 9-Figure Range

Despite years and years of touring and myriad albums under his belt, not to mention literally pioneering a genre, David Guetta’s golden years are behind him. With so much young talent coming out of the wood work, and crowds pretty much remaining just as young (on average), fans flocked to names like Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, and Marshmello, rather than Guetta, Tiesto, or Afrojack.

That being said, Guetta has definitely amassed a net worth over the years and it’s just grown even larger thanks to a single, massive deal with Warner Music Group. In the deal, reports Digital Music News, Guetta sold his major recording catalog, and will receive future royalties of said music, for the tune of around $100 million.

The deal will push his net worth into the $150-175MM range.

Back in 2017, when Forbes put out their annual Highest Paid DJs list, Guetta commented on the all-in-good-fun rivalry between some of the scene’s richest headliners.

“Of course I pay attention to it,” said Guetta. “We all do!”

“There is competition, but in a positive way,” he continued. ”We’re all really good friends.”

And, though paltry in comparison, Guetta is also selling his 37th-floor Miami apartment for $14M, which will bump up his immediate net worth even more.

Idris Elba Drops Addictive Club Track, “Fudge” ft. Eliza Legzdina [LISTEN]

Idris Elba just dropped a hot new record for the clubs, “Fudge” featuring Eliza Legzdina.

“Fudge” is as addictive as they come, as underground tech house meets pop in this versatile, low key heater. Bouncy rhythm and gritty undertones control the track, as Eliza serves up unfiltered lyrical confidence, only to be outshined by her truly unique flow.

Elba reveals to Metro.co.uk:

Fudge is the first track in a new run of music to come from me and my London based label 7Wallace. I made the track while filming in Australia and wanted to make a summer banger that we can listen to in the clubs we have all missed so much.

As much as we can’t take our ears off the production, we can’t take our eyes of the music video. Edgy imagery and lyrics flash across the screen as the dirty beat bumps. By the end of the song, “Fudge” will have you singing along — who the F is that?
