BREAKING: Day Trip Moving Once Again, This Time To NOS Event Center In San Bernardino

After a stunningly unpopular decision to move Day Trip, Insomniac’s new festival property, to Inglewood, 20 miles north of its original ocean front location in San Pedro, the festival is now moving once again to San Bernardino’s NOS Event Center.

“We are transforming NOS into the full Day Trip Fest experience: 2 stages of House Music All Day Long feat the same epic lineup, grounds completely covered by artificial grass, a Drone Light Show in the Sky, photo ops & art installations, shade structures, misting, a Ferris Wheel, performers, free parking in all our official lots & much more.”

All ticket holders will be refunded for their tickets, but the tickets will still b honored — effectively making this a free festival for the weekend for those lucky enough to snag a ticket. Anyone who purchased non-refundable accommodation or travel will be reimbursed for it. All attendees can also get a free ticket to an Insomniac festival of their choice the rest of this year (given it’s not already sold out).

Pasquale Rotella sounds absolutely defeated in the message to fans, which he recognizes and states himself. But it seems that Insomniac is doing their best with the hand they’ve been dealt.

Rossy releases a new forward thinking single titled ‘777’

Burgeoning trap producer Rossy is back with a new record titled ‘777’ on Jadu Dala host to some of the most experimental and forward thinking producers all over the world.

Rossy’s ‘777’ is as myseterious as it is enthralling. The record is littered with precise percussion and glistening arps that create divine video game-esq soundscapes. An ethereal vocal sample is present throughout the entire record that adds an eerie yet fitting element perfecting this fast paced trap anthem.

Check out what Rossy had to say about the creative process behind ‘777’:

“You know when a song comes together so seamlessly it’s such a beautiful feeling. You enter this flow state where you forget everything around you and then you come out like what the actual heck did I just do, that was 777. It was truly a labor of love. I started with the development of the main arp in the drop and the rest just fell into place from there. I love arps so much and tried to push that love for them in a new direction with this song. I knew while making the track that I wanted to add a very distinctive vocal chop, after the bulk of the track was done was when I added the chop in and for me it made the song so special.”

mark veins and Shöckface link up with French rapper HAPAXAN for ‘Encore & Encore’ an electronic-rap anthem

Following the release of his debut EP ‘WAR WITH MYSELF,’ Shöckface is back with a familiar collaborator mark veins and a first time collaborator, Brussels-based rapper HAPAXAN for their new record ‘Encore & Encore.’

‘Encore & Encore’ highlights the versatility of both Shöckface and mark veins. The two budding producers have proven that there are no boundaries they are unwilling to tear down. From soaring sub bass layered instrumentals to teaming up with HAPAXAN for ‘Encore & Encore,’ there’s no telling what the two producers have up their sleeve next. ‘Encore & Encore’ which translates from French to English as ‘Again & Again’ marks Shöckface’s and mark veins first non english collaboration. The record begins with soft strung guitar plucks and a warm crackling sensation aided immediately by HAPAXAN’s crisp French vocals.

On ‘Encore & Encore’ HAPAXAN speaks about his struggle and resilience throughout modern life and the dynamic that society foists upon us. In one section of the record saying “Social contract without a signature, Or even negotiating the terms” alluding to the fact how society is constructed in such a way that those within the society often never sign off on the actions that are carried out.

Vibrant percussion and bouts of white noise are sustained throughout the record as pressure building risers make their way towards the climax. Before the first initial drop HAPAXAN switches things up from a fast paced rapping vocal performance into a slower serenading vocal performance highlighting his range of vocal expertise. As ‘Encore & Encore’ continues, Shöckface and mark veins’ signature hyperwave sound filled with distorted anthemic synths takes full control of the record. HAPAXAN continues to remark ‘Encore & Encore’ in reference to after falling down, he gets back up again and again.

J Balvin Shares Official Cover Art For Skrillex Collab With Viral TikTok Creator

J Balvin & Skrillex, “In Da Getto,” is coming.

The Latin star just shared the official cover art for the single, featuring viral TikTok creator Khaby Lane.

A post shared by J Balvin (@jbalvin)

Khaby went viral on the social media platform for “stitching” videos reacting to absurdly and often needlessly complicated methods of doing mundane tasks, showing a much simpler version, and then simply shrugging. In most, if not all, of his videos, he gets the point across purely from body language, without speaking.

What his relation is to J Balvin and Skrillex is a bit more unclear, and it could just be that the two wanted to feature him on the cover because they like his content.

Regardless, the collaboration can now be considered imminent.

Cercle Festival Postpones Until 2022 Due to COVID Concerns

Cercle Festival has made the difficult decision to reschedule once again, now taking place May 14 & 15, 2022 at the Art & Space Museum (Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace) in Le Bourget, France.

Following up the news of Tomorrowland, Ultra Europe, and more pushing back dates until 2022, Cercle has notified ticketholders of the postponement. Tickets are transferrable for next year, but info on refunds will be sent out within the next few days.

Organizers are transparent about the challenges facing the festival:

First of all, no insurances would cover a last-minute cancelation decided by the authorities following, for example, a peak of COVID cases after the summer.

Secondly, thousands of international festival-goers could still not enter France.

Therefore, we prefer waiting a few months to be able to organize the best event possible in the best conditions possible, without having to change the capacity of the venue.

The lineup will remain identical, according to Cercle, as all artists have already signed on for the new edition of the festival. The roster includes Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, Black Coffee, Pan-Pot, Maceo Plex, ARTBAT, Louisahhh — plus, a Cercle All Stars set and much more.

#FreedomToDance in London Attracts Thousands to “Festival-Like” Protest

On June 27th, the #FreedomToDance protest took place in response to the UK government’s extension of COVID-19 restrictions. Thousands of music lovers gathered in front of BBC on Regent Street in London to show support for the UK’s nightlife industry.

Organized by Save Our Scene, and backed by the Night Times Industries Association — the event featured a march and rave-like protest, with signs that read “MEET ME AT THE CLUB”, “MUSIC IS FREEDOM” and “CUT SHAPES NOT CULTURE,” according to DJ Mag.

DJs played out of vans, which lined the streets — featuring performances from Alan Fitzpatrick, Eats Everything, Hannah Wants, Low Steppa and many more, with plenty of b2b action in the mix.

Save Our Scene shared prior to the event, “We are demanding that the Government ends all restrictions on the hospitality sector without any further delay. Enough is enough and we can’t stay silent anymore.”

The protest fell under criticism as the crowd reportedly created a “festival-like atmosphere,” with disregard to social distancing and mask wearing mandates. Other criticisms are outlined in this article by DJ Mag, which had a contributor on the scene.

Save Our Scene has followed up with a new update, posted today:

Some have been saying, “oh they were just wanting a rave…” Yes! You are right ! That’s the whole point. Open up the clubs on the 19th so we can do it safely and responsibly, or you can expect Sunday to be a weekly event. That’s the choice our Government has to make.

Proceeds raised from Save Our Scene’s #FreedomToDance fundraising effort will go to the following organizations: Help Musicians, Music Venue Trust, We Make Events Official, and Save Night Life.

New Spotify Patent Reveals Karaoke Features Could Be Coming Soon

Last year, Your EDM, like many other news/media outlets, reported that Spotify was working on a karaoke mode through its app. Now, a new patent filed by the streaming giant appears to signal that the mode is still on its way, and soon.

According to Digital Music News, “The patent relates to a ‘Karaoke Query Processing System,’ by which audio can be matched from a smaller clip. ‘An electronic device receives an audio clip and performs a matching process on the audio clip. The matching process includes comparing at least a portion of the audio clip to a plurality of reference audio tracks and identifying, based on the comparing, the first portion of a particular reference track that corresponds to the audio sample,’ the patent description reads.”

“’Upon identifying the matching portion, the electronic device provides a backing track for playback which corresponds to the particular reference track and an initial playback position of the backing track,’ the patent continues.”

In essence, it’s like a Shazam for your own voice that doesn’t rely on precise melody or musical notes to identify — we’ve yet to see correctly or not — a particular piece of music.

A release date for the feature was not disclosed, but a patent filing indicates that it could be sooner than later.

Zeds Dead Reveals New Single With MKLA, “Alive,” Out This Week

Zeds Dead just recently released their latest collection of songs, the Catching Z’s mixtape, back in March. Filled with more ambient and downtempo tunes, it was a nice departure from their typical sound. Now, just three months later, they’re already teasing their next release, “Alive” with MKLA.

Not much is publicly available about the track, especially since shows haven’t been around for artists to play out any IDs. But regardless, new Zeds Dead is never, ever a bad thing.

The new track is out this Wednesday, June 30! Stay tuned.
