REPORT: Swedish House Mafia Releasing New Single This Week, Mysterious Posters Appear

It’s been almost two years since Swedish House Mafia’s last run of shows concluded. The trio, made up of Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, and Steve Angello has been quiet ever since… but some posters spotted around the world has led some to believe that something is coming.

And as far as Proximity is concerned, it has apparently been “confirmed” that the supergroup is releasing a new record this coming Friday.

Plenty of IDs have been spread from SHM’s last live shows, and we even reported in February earlier this year that they were apparently back in the studio. It’s not entirely surprising that we’ve heard nothing from them since early 2020, especially given COVID-19 and everything else that came with it.

Now that the world is (beginning to) open up, it would make sense for them to finally release their first new music since 2012. Still, it remains to be seen what comes of these mysterious posters and whether they truly have something coming.

For all we know, it could be another merch drop. Let’s wait and see.

Ibiza Introduces Another Round of Nightlife Restrictions with COVID Cases on the Rise

Ibiza is enforcing new restrictions on entertainment and nightlife as COVID cases are on the rise across the region.

In Sant Antoni, Ibiza, the latest tourism decree reduces the number of people who can group together indoors to six — and outside, up to 10. Venues must shut down by 2 AM and selling alcohol is prohibited between 9:30 PM and 8 AM.

Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez also declared that UK tourists will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test or show proof of vaccination in order to enter the Balearic Islands. The UK government had previously green lit entry.

Tourism Minister Iago Neguerela, confirmed that the restrictions are in place to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Previously, Ibiza was set to reopen as a safe destination in June, but safety remains a priority.

RÜFÜS DU SOL Posters Appear from LA to Sydney in Cryptic Fashion

RÜFÜS DU SOL are up to something and all signs point to a new album…

Just recently, posters have popped up in Los Angeles and Sydney, featuring a deep blue architectural design and a single word — “ALIVE” — along with group’s official website URL.

Upon entering their website, some words (perhaps lyrics) reveal — “I’m coming back again, I wanna make it right.” A soft production plays in the background as visitors are directed to a sign up page confirming, “We’re back.”

Previously, RÜFÜS DU SOL revealed their fourth album is coming soon, expected out in 2021. Back in November they shared, “For those asking us each week, yes we are working on a new album. Working on it every day. Thank you for patiently waiting.”

RÜFÜS DU SOL’s 2018 album Solace placed #1 our Top 10 Albums of 2018 list. Needless to say, expectations are running high for their next release.

Space Yacht Drops Spicy ‘Tech My House Vol. 2’ Compilation [LISTEN]

Space Yacht presents its second edition of the Tech My House compilation series, following up last year’s inaugural release which marked the brand’s sixth anniversary. It’s a 14-track party-starting collection from some of the best tastemakers in the game.

The label and collective reveals, “90% of the singles were signed through Space Yacht’s Twitch show, Tune Reactor, which launched during the pandemic to level the A&R playing field.” The concept is simple — Space Yacht signs the music they love and believe in.

Co-founder LondonBridge shares: “The great thing about the way we do A&R is that it’s all live on our Twitch stream. It enables us to source records from all over the world. We don’t care if you have a manager or a big social media following. If the music is great, we sign it. It’s as simple as that.”

This round of Tech My House features instant hit club cuts from Arnold & Lane, No Thanks & San Pacho, Swavé, Hitta & Vanilla Ace, Pass The 40, Capozzi, Xeno, Tony H, OBAŸASHI, Nico Crespo, Heim, Ōsé, Not Not, and Contribe.

This Ain’t Bristol to Relaunch a Year After Closing its Doors Amid Billy Kenny Scandal

This Ain’t Bristol, the once defunct tech-house imprint, announced a relaunch with fresh music releases under new management. The label once known for being the platform that showcased dancefloor staples for artists such as Kyle Watson, Bart B More, Josh Brown, Proxy and more, states a return is in order that marks “a new era” for the brand.

Following a year that saw original cofounder and disgraced human being Billy Kenny accused of rape and sexual assault, the label gutted much of Kenny’s discography from their catalogue and began to slow down business to grinding halt. This Ain’t Bristol eventually released a statement addressing their indefinite cease of operations and enlightened their audience with the reality that most if not all of their catalogue would be disappearing due to legal/contractual issues.

One year later and it looks like This Ain’t Bristol is ready for a comeback with newfound determination. Their post from last month details a general idea of what their leadership will consist of moving forward. Maximono, tech house DJ and another cofounder of the label, will be working alongside digital distribution/label management group Label Worx to try and resurrect the brand, bring back artists to the label and curate newer acts as well.

One thing the did not make clear, however, is the status of some of the older releases on This Ain’t Bristol. Excluding Billy Kenny’s work, tracks from Kyle Watson, Maximono, Worthy, Dillon Nathaniel, Bruno Furlan, Kry Wolf, Josh Brown, GAWP, and more have been removed. Despite the fact that the label already took a hit by separating Kenny’s massive involvement in released material for the label, it seems that the punishment extended into other music Kenny didn’t even touch.

Now, record labels are a tricky business. Between networking, contract negotiations, distribution, promotion, and more, making sure a song is released officially goes through a myriad of hands outside of the artist’s. Plus the deals that were negotiated then may have been renegotiated more recently and following the fallout of something as substantial as what befell This Ain’t Bristol, it makes sense why they didn’t fight to save every song. They even touch on some of these notes in the statement announcing their original hiatus.

Perhaps, this is the best the label’s fans and third parties can expect from this situation. We’re never getting some of those older tracks back, but new music is on its way with the latest release coming from Marc Spence. Maybe there’s more we can salvage

Dombresky & Noizu Announce Special b2b Show, Rave Alarm, at Hollywood Palladium

Three years ago, Dombresky and Noizu teamed up for the tech-house banger, “Rave Alarm.” Now, fresh off a test run at Insomniac’s Day Trip Festival, the two venerable house producers have announced they will be reuniting for a special b2b show at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in November.

One would have to assume that more artists will be announced, but house and techno will reign supreme for one special night in Los Angeles as Rave Alarm takes over. Both of these artists have been relatively quiet on the release front in 2021, so we can only imagine how much new music Dombresky and Noizu will have in store for us.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW for Dombresky b2b Noizu, Rave Alarm, November 13 at the Hollywood Palladium. Don’t miss out on this special night of house music. Here’s a sneak peak below.

Your EDM Premiere: Stefy De Cicco x Axel Black & White ft. Stella Mwangi – I Like

Released today is another banger from Stefy De Cicco, an artist that we just love to hear new material from. Again dropping via Universal Music where she is exclusively signed, the Italian superstar DJ and producer pools together her creative ideas with those of fledgling producer Axel Black & White. Also landing a feature on ‘I Like’ is the rapper and performer Stella Mwangi, and together the trio is set to make waves with this swaggering record.

Taking a fresh direction from some of De Cicco’s previous sounds, this one is a roving and crisply cut explosion of sounds. Mwangi’s vocals are fizzing and rhythmically adept, whilst both Axel Black & White – recently signed to Universal as well – and De Cicco drive on its anthemic bassline with energy and clean precision.

Axel shares of his collaboration with the duo: “I’m honored to collaborate with Stefy De Cicco. I love her sounds and I’m a big fan of her tracks like ‘Day N Nite’ & ‘Kids’. The combination of our sounds bring a banger to life.”
