[PREMIERE] BadKlaat Switches It Up With Some Jazzy DnB On Title Single From ‘WYLD’ EP

BadKlaat’s full WYLD EP is officially out on Never Say Die tomorrow, July 16, but we’ve got one final treat for the fam before the full project goes live. Your EDM is pleased to premiere the title track, “WYLD,” a blistering DnB tune with delicious notes of jazz.

It’s not often that we see BadKlaat deviate from the heavy bass styles for which he’s made a name for himself, but “WYLD” is a very welcome departure from the norm in the best fashion. Hearing the UK producer flex with some fresh sounds is intoxicating and instantly addictive, with the pleasant melodies and memorable vocal hooks.

The “Heartbreak Anthem” mega collab from Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix gets the Tchami treatment with this brand new remix.

The original “Heartbreak Anthem” is sweet, sweet bubblegum dance at its finest. With Galantis, David Guetta and Little Mix together on a single track, there’s already a lot of personality working together.

Conrank continues to merge rock and dubstep with “Watch Us Fly,” out now on Circus Records

Conrank’s 2019 album, What’s a FKNG Conrank, was one of our favorite albums of the year, and the only reason it didn’t make it on our Top 10 list was simply because the competition was so stiff. But the UK-born, LA/Shanghai-based producer still continues to innovate and exceed expectations, now joining so many others in fusing rock and bass music, especially with his newest single, “Watch Us Fly.”

Bringing his own vocals into the mix, Conrank’s newest single is a fusion of The Qemists, Bloody Beetroots, and The Prodigy, with thundering guitar, heavily textured bass, and an immediately headbang-worthy drop.

There’s more to come, but for now check out “Watch Us Fly” below!

SNAILS Drops “Slime Zone,” The First Single From Upcoming ‘Slime Time 2’ EP

Having just released the inaugural Slime Time EP this past March, vomitstep producer SNAILS is already coming back with the sequel, dropping the first single, “Slime Zone,” yesterday.

It feels like all of SNAILS’ unique production methods are on display at once in this indomitable single, full of squelching bass and synths and with the producer’s intensely energetic rhythms.

The vocal introduction to the track describes “a new world, a new mind, a new show“… the last massive SNAILS tour saw an insane double-paned LED screen production, which mimicked a 3D effect in real life, so we can’t wait to see what he brings next.

Check out “Slime Zone” below!

Swedish House Mafia Drop New Single, “It Gets Better,” Confirm Debut Album This Year

Despite a lengthy comeback tour a couple years ago, Swedish House Mafia, the trio of Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, and Axwell, have not released new music since 2012. That changes today, with the release of “It Gets Better.”

This isn’t the single with Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake, “Lifetime,” that is being performed together on Jimmy Fallon this coming Monday, but rather one of the unreleased songs heard frequently on their tour. With a reverbed vocal and a slight taste of hip hop, this feels much more like Zhu than the group’s older progressive house days. There’s a reason for the change, however.

Swedish House Mafia are releasing their debut album, Paradise Again, later this year.

“It was just like, ‘What the f–k do we do? How do we come back? Do we just give them another [version of] what we’ve done before?’ ” Ingrosso told Billboard. “I was like, ‘F–k that; it’s depressing to go back. It’s disgusting to go back.’”

“We have no idea if people are going to like [the new music],” adds Ingrosso. “But we are just really proud of what we have done.”

Sure enough, while watching the live premiere on YouTube this morning, there was plenty of a divide between fans, with some commenting repeated fire emojis, and others giving it a score of anywhere from 0 to 3 out of 10, asking “What happened?”

The group’s devil may care attitude is sure to shield them from much of the criticism.

“When we came back together again, it was like we had to rediscover what this was,” says Angello. “We all have our different likings, obviously. [But then] Seb shows me something, or Ax shows me something I have never seen or heard, and it becomes this magic again that we had when we were young.”

Check out “It Gets Better” below, prepare for “Lifetime” this coming Monday, and join us all as we await the group’s debut album* later this year!

*Note: Debut album as referred to by Billboard, the group’s 2012 Until Now is likely considered more of a compilation album of their previously released singles.

New Artist Spotlight: D.E.L’s Lofi Dream Pop D&B Is in Full ‘Bloom’

Your EDM had had an eye on dreamy dream pop artist Nick De La Hoyde for a few years now. His pitch-perfect vocals and jazzy, chilled out approach to pop have made him one to watch since his early releases like his breakout 2018 single, “Hold Me Close.”

It was pretty obvious that De La Hoyde would be heading towards EDM at some point; his 2020 house-based single “Touch” has has earned him 1.8 million streams on Spotify and most recent D&B/pop fusion track “Stay By Me” and the trappy “Anxiety” are set to catch up with it with nearly half a million streams between them since they dropped earlier this year. No one was sure just how EDM De La Hoyde would go, however, until he teamed up with his brothers Timm and Joseph to create a new project that is very firmly in the electronic/lofi/dream pop wheelhouse. Now the crossover vibes can truly…well, vibe with D.E.L and their latest track, “Bloom.”

Given the production values and sounds on Nick’s previous solo releases, it stands to reason that he, Joseph and Timm have been working together for a while and in fact, D.E.L’s Spotify releases track back to 2019. Nick’s solo “Stay By Me” single released the same month as “Bloom” and lists D.E.L as the producer, in fact, so it’s not as if the trio of brothers and musicians are trying to keep it n the Q-T. Given the stunning production and vibes in D.E.L’s singles, however, it’s high time De La Hoyde fans started paying attention to them, especially those who like their bass music.

Indeed, D.E.L’s Spotify plays have been creeping up as well over the last year or so, with their first single “Running Away” clocking almost 200,000 plays. They’re also tracking some decent radio play and being noticed on Apple Music so it’s likely only a matter of time. The biggest difference between D.E.L and De La Hoyde’s solo stuff is that here there’s an even bigger focus on the EDM and bass music production. Tracks like “Tell” and “Evergreen” have big halftime/trap vibes while “It’s Already June” and “Take Care” conjure future bass feelings. Still others like “Heaven” and “Indecision” really show the brothers flexing their production muscles with their heavily syncopated D&B/crossover beats. All grounded by Nick’s smooth, perfect-for-lofi vocals, every track D.E.L have dropped so far has more than proved the project’s minerals.

“Bloom” is the most recent track by the trio and likely the most EDM/crossover from D.E.L thus far, in that it’s not quite as pop-heavy as some of the others. Nick’s extraordinary vox and lyrics are still there, but there’s also a decent amount of space for the beat and sound design to breathe, partially because the lyrics aren’t quite as complex as others. Still deep and thought-provoking in the D.E.L indie pop style, EDM fans can really picture “Bloom” being mixed in with a liquid D&B set or at sunrise at a festie. With this track, the pop/EDM crossover is truly complete.

Watching the trajectory of what both Nick De La Hoyde as a solo artist and D.E.L have done so far, it’s anyone’s guess where he, Timm and Joseph will go next. It seems that D.E.L will continue to go more experimental, lofi and EDM while Nick will stay with a solid foot in pop, but with the recent releases on both sides having similar production and vibes, some bleed-through is inevitable and not necessarily a bad thing. Pop fans can have their dreamy De La Hoyde while also being exposed to some sick beats while EDM fans can picture “Bloom” and others being played on a beach somewhere by their favorite liquid DJ. With talent like this on both sides of the musical aisle, everyone wins.

“Bloom” is out now and can be streamed on Spotify. Check out D.E.L’s YouTube channel for more videos.

3LAU Awards $14,500 Scholarship, In Honor of “Everything” Single

Bold.org, the largest independent scholarship provider in the country, announces its first scholarship winner from its Year of Giving Campaign. The Year of Giving Campaign launched in January with impact-focused public figures championing scholarships each month. This week, the campaign’s inaugural partner, DJ and Producer 3LAU, awards the $14,500 3LAU “Everything” Scholarship to North Carolina State University student, Bhavana Veeravalli.

The 3LAU “Everything” Scholarship initially debuted to celebrate 3LAU’s 30th birthday and his new single “Everything” — which reached #5 on Billboard’s Dance/Mixshow Airplay chart and garnered 5 million streams. What started as a $10,000 scholarship quickly gained momentum. Through additional contributions from 3LAU and his fans, the scholarship amount increased to more than $14,500. The scholarship received more than 3,000 applications from students sharing what they consider to be their “everything.” Bhavana Veeravalli’s scholarship-winning essay elaborated on her “everything”— the power of art.

“What is more powerful than giving life to something that was once thought intangible?” shared Bhavana in her application essay.

3LAU says, “Back in January, I launched The 3LAU ‘Everything’ Scholarship to celebrate my 30th Birthday and my new single “Everything.” I’m inspired by the number of applicants this scholarship received. Bhavana’s essay about the power of storytelling through art was thoughtful and moving. I’m so happy to award her this scholarship, which will help her pursue a Bachelor’s in Graphic Communications. I’m thankful to have kicked off this campaign with Bold.org — a platform that puts impact through philanthropy at the forefront — and provide meaningful support to a student with such exciting goals.”

To join Bold.org in fighting America’s student debt crisis, donors can create their own custom scholarship by creating a profile at www.bold.org.

Marshmello Co-Wrote/Produced New “Space Jam 2” Soundtrack Song w/ 24kGoldn & Lil Wayne

The soundtrack for Space Jam 2: A New Legacy officially dropped last week, ahead of the feature film’s release this Friday. Featuring artists ranging from Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Baby to John Legend to Jonas Brothers, Chance the Rapper, Leon Bridges, Joyner Lucas, and more, there’s plenty to dig through.

At least one EDM artist found his way onto the album through writing and production credits: Marshmello. He’s credited on “Control The World” from 24kGoldn and Lil Wayne, and unlike a lot of his pop and hip hop collaborations, you can really identify his contributions in the production, from the guitar to the 303 bass notes to the little synth effects.
