One of the most exciting acts coming up is straight out of the Music City, and he goes by the name of yabé. Whether it’s deep, tech, or minimal house, he does it flawlessly and has an incredible mind for developing hypnotic melodies and beautiful sounds to accompany each song.
His latest EP is titled ‘Shūru‘, signed to Bonfire Records, and is nothing short of the greatness we’ve come to expect from him. yabé explains:
Shūru (surreal) was a meeting of the worlds of my two passions of dance music and modern architecture. It felt like a singularity where I could embody one identity with my music production and real estate brokering. It has brought refreshing balance to my mental health.
“Sanctity” kicks off the EP, encapsulating you in a smooth and blissful ambiance as synths float in and out of the mix. Accompanied by intricate vocal sampling and a driving bass line, “Sanctity” is impeccable.
“Bamboo Forest” follows, beginning with a mesmerizing orchestral segment, slowly building into a rumbling deep house tune. Each sound seamlessly compliments the other, truly making it feel as if you’ve been transported to a tranquil bamboo forest.
yabé adds:
Before recording these tracks I was listening to a lot of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Anjunadeep Compilations as well as doing a deep dive study of Japanese architecture. This lead to the blending of orchestral arrangements as well as minimal deep house soundscapes. I also made a point to sleep in the studio for many of the sessions to have the ability to wake up in the middle of the night and record in very lucid states.
Closing off the EP is “Sensei“, a song that has already enjoyed some success, earning a prestigious Spotify editorial playlist placement on their very own ‘Fresh Finds: Basement’. “Sensei” is a hypnotic journey from start to finish, capping off the EP in perfect fashion.
yabé’s talent is unmistakeable and this ‘Shūru‘ EP is one that will stand the test of time. Listen below!
