Petition to Bring Back Daft Punk Gets Punny Response from UK Government

A petition to bring Daft Punk back has been rejected.

The request to “Bring Back Daft Punk,” submitted to the UK Government and Parliament online can be read here. The argument and conditions are simple and quite reasonable: “Bring back Daft Punk and we want a new album for the pain they’ve put us through.”

Daft Punk unexpectedly broke up in early 2021, ending an era with a single, dramatic explosion. The duo consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have left an unmistakable mark on dance music and culture — and it’s no wonder fans are persistent in asking for their reunion.

Unfortunately, the petition was rejected and here’s why: “It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for. Any decision to re-form Daft Punk, and any potential collaborations, is a matter for them, not the UK Government or Parliament.” Duh. Not to mention… Daft Punk are French.

The best part — “You may Get Lucky and find they choose to reform One More Time.”
